EDINBURGH — Scottish author Stuart Walton, a sociology and criminology professor at the University of Abertay Dundee, warns that his country is now being used to test what he calls a “dystopian” plan in which every child, from birth, would be assigned a “state guardian” who would have the supposed authority to represent the child’s interests against his parents.

EDINBURGH — Officials in Scotland are using hospital snoops and nursery school children to monitor the attitudes of parents regarding “diversity.” Under an initiative called Getting It Right for Every Child, parents of newborns are secretly monitored by hospital staff to assess their “suitability” for raising their children.
WASHINGTON — Less than a week after a major address in which President Obama outlined what he called restrictions on the use of drone strikes, another “signature strike” was carried out in Pakistan that resulted in the death of several people who were living in adobe huts.
WASHINGTON — Seeking to contain growing media outrage over the Justice Department’s invasive scrutiny of reporters, Attorney General Eric Holder offered to meet with representatives of major media outlets in an off-the-record briefing. Representatives from the Washington Post and the Wall Street Journal indicated that they would attend the meeting on terms offered by Holder.
MOSCOW — The father of Chechen native Ibragim Todashev, who was killed by an FBI agent following an interrogation in Orlando, Florida, has accused the Bureau of executing his son in order to “shut him up.” Speaking at a press conference in Russia, Abdulbaki Todashev said of the FBI: “They come to your house like bandits, and they shoot you.”

http://NextNewsNetwork.com | The official name of the Obamacare law is the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. The more we learn about that program, the clearer it becomes that it offers no protection for patients — and that it will cause health care costs to escalate dramatically.
The new regulatory burdens and economic restrictions in the law will accelerate the ongoing exodus of qualified doctors and other medical practitioners from the profession. And, yes, we will indeed see the emergence of the much-dreaded death panels — unless we can prevent Obamacare from being fully implemented.
Why are health care costs so high? What can be done to make them more reasonable? Is there anywhere people can go to receive high-quality, personal medical care at reasonable cost?
For answers we turn to Dr. Keith Smith, co-founder and managing partner of the Surgery Center of Oklahoma, a fee-for-service medical practice that delivers top-rate care at a fraction of what conventional hospitals charge.

That acronym refers to the National Defense Authorization Act of 2012, which contains a provision allowing the president to order the indefinite military detention of anyone accused of offering substantial support to al-Qaeda or “associated forces.”
The measure does not define critical terms — for instance, what groups would be considered “associated forces.” And it applies to U.S. citizens, who — under the ambiguous and expansive terms of that measure — could be detained by the military, on U.S. soil, until what the measure calls the “end of hostilities,” which in the open-ended war on terror could mean forever. According to Obama administration spokesmen, the NDAA could be used to imprison war correspondents and other journalists who cover terrorism-related issues.
The NDAA has no parallel in American history. In fact, it is without precedent in the history of Anglo-Saxon law since the Magna Carta was signed in 1215. Perhaps the closest historical kindred to the NDAA would be Article 58 of the Soviet Criminal Code, which allowed for arrest and summary imprisonment of anyone suspected of working to undermine the Soviet state.
Journalist and activist Tangerine Bolen is one of eight plaintiffs in a lawsuit against the NDAA. Although she voted for Obama, she describes herself as “terrified” by the arbitrary powers that the president and his advisers can now exercise in the name of fighting terrorism.
