Looking Back – Former NM Gov. Gary Johnson On the Issues

1

Following the Free and Equal 3rd Party Debate held on October 24th I was asked about my thoughts on the candidates outside of the scope of topics covered.  As all my support and efforts in these last two presidential election cycles have been devoted to promoting  Dr. Ron Paul my history on these third party candidates is limited.  For a bit of historical perspective I did remember an excellent Gary Franchi interview with former NM Gov. Gary Johnson that I had watched early on in March 2011.

Below is the Gary Franchi interview mentioned above to offer a deeper look into Gary Johnson for those that inquired.  I am sure with simple efforts interviews with the other 3rd party candidates is available.

A reminder for those interested, the second Presidential Debate of 3rd Party Candidates by Free and Equal will be held on October 30th from Washington D.C.

Remember, NO vote is a wasted vote when cast for who you truly believe in!

Gingrich to Drop Out; Paul moves to Texas

Ron Paul heads to Texas

Newt Gingrich announced that he will be ending his bid for the republican nomination for president. He is expected to make a formal announcement in Washington D.C. sometime next week, probably Tuesday. This comes after Gingrich placed last in every primary on Tuesday, except Delaware where he campaigned heavily, and in the midst of heavy camprepublican, campaign, nomination, debt, candidate, conservative, consistent, Tampa, RNC, aign debt. This is a stark contrast to the Paul campaign which has no debt and is gaining momentum as the caucus process continues to advance.

Paul is increasing his commitment in Texas as it is expected he will be one of only two candidates remaining in that prim. He has added five new campaign stops in Texas, opened a new campaign headquarters, and is airing ads. Mitt Romney still has not been able to gain the full support of conservatives and Paul may be able to capitalize on that as the primaries in the month of May are going to be mostly in Southern and Western states. With Rick Santorum out of the race many of his socially conservative followers are moving over to the Paul camp because of, among other things, his consistent pro-life stance. In part because of this migration as well as excellent organization Paul is poised to win Iowa and Minnesota and has a good chance in several other caucus states. If Paul wins five states he will have a nomination vote at the Republican National Convention in Tampa.

This was a wonderful historic event showing the veterans and active duty military members will not allow to have their voices suppressed.  Veterans for Ron Paul make an impressive showing, to say the least.  I feel that the veterans and active duty troops have stated their knowledgeable understanding of unconstitutional and un-declared illegal wars.  You may say “I like Ron Paul except for his military / foreign policy standing”, well, who knows better than those participating first hand, which are these patriots marching today.   As an USMC vet I salute these Veterans for Ron Paul and supporting active duty service men and women and fully support their efforts!

The Gun Runners in Washington D.C.

This story, “Legal U.S. Gun Sales to Mexico Arming Cartels,” isn’t getting a whole lot of attention from the domestic media. CBS News investigative correspondent Sharyl Attkisson has dug up some bones that brings a bit of transparency to Washington’s war on your gun rights.

The problem of weapons legally sold to Mexico – then diverted to violent cartels – is becoming more urgent. That’s because the U.S. has quietly authorized a massive escalation in the number of guns sold to Mexico through “direct commercial sales.” It’s a way foreign countries can acquire firearms faster and with less disclosure than going through the Pentagon.

Here’s how it works: A foreign government fills out an application to buy weapons from private gun manufacturers in the U.S. Then the State Department decides whether to approve.

And it did approve 2,476 guns to be sold to Mexico in 2006. In 2009, that number was up nearly 10 times, to 18,709. The State Department has since stopped disclosing numbers of guns it approves, and wouldn’t give CBS News figures for 2010 or 2011.

Further down the article comes this intriguing quote:

“These sales by the industry actually support U.S. national security interests,” Keane told Attkisson. “If they didn’t, the State Department wouldn’t allow them.”

Larry Keane, interestingly enough, is a lobbyist for the National Shooting Sports Foundation, and he’s advocating for and speaking on behalf of gun sales to foreign countries brokered by the U.S. government.

According to Investors.com, emails that were obtained by CSB show that “ATF officials discussed using the deliberate transfer of weapons to Mexican drug cartels to justify a new gun regulation known as “Demand Letter 3.’” Remember that shortly after Obama was elected, his administration, led by gun control pusher Rahm Emanuel, started circulating the falsehoods about the “problem” of illegal guns being funneled to Mexico to fuel the drug violence [See this propaganda piece, "GAO Ties US Guns to Mexico Violence," in the June 18, 2009 WSJ].

Despite the incomplete data, GAO investigators conclude that the U.S., and in particular the Southwest border states of Texas, California and Arizona, are the source of most weapons trafficked into Mexico.

I blogged about it here. That was the beginning of another new chapter in the war on peaceful American gun owners. The U.S. government pushes drugs across the border, strategically sells guns to the military {gangs}, creates and exacerbates the violence, and then it uses and magnifies the crisis it has created as a tool for pushing its anti-gun, anti-freedom agenda here in the United States.

Wall Streeters Top Obama Re-Election Supporters

Source: http://www.moneynews.com

A just-released study by the Center for Responsive Politics shows that President Obama is relying more on Wall Street to fund his re-election this year than he did in 2008, according to CNBC, which obtained an advance copy of the report.

The report says that one-third of the money Obama’s elite fund-raising corps has raised on behalf of his re-election has come from the financial sector.

“Individuals who work in the finance, insurance, and real estate sector are responsible for raising at least $11.3 million for Obama’s campaign and the Democratic National Committee,” the report says.

And, all of Obama’s “bundlers” — top fundraisers who obtain donations from people and groups in their business, professional, and personal networks — have raised a minimum of $34.95 million.

Obama has even added new Wall Streeters who did not work for him in 2008, including former Goldman Sachs CEO Jon Corzine, Evercore Partners executive Charles Myers, Greenstreet Real Estate Partners CEO Steven Green, and Azita Raji, a former investment banker for JPMorgan.

Obama and the DNC combined are on pace to far exceed the amounts Obama raised from Wall Street donors in 2008, both in raw dollar amounts and as a percentage of what he raises overall.

According to the Center’s research, Obama fundraisers who worked in the finance, insurance and real estate sector were responsible for a minimum of $16 million, or about 21 percent of the $76.5 million estimated minimum amount brought in by top bundlers.

Moreover, the Center has identified 80 bundlers — out of 244 whose names were released by the Obama campaign last week — who are part of the financial sector.

Forty-four of these specifically work for the securities and investment industry.

United Press International reports that Obama has raised more money than his Republican rivals in 36 states and Washington, D.C.
