Military Times Survey: 75% of Troops Oppose Strikes on Syria

It’s always a good sign for an empire’s fortunes when the commander in chief of the armed forces completely loses the confidence and trust of the troops. While we have all seen various polls demonstrating the general public’s complete opposition to unprovoked military aggression against Syria, I hadn’t seen a survey focused on military members until now. The results are not good for the establishment. From the Military Times:

To the list of skeptics who question the need for air strikes against Syria, add an another unlikely group — many U.S. troops.

“I haven’t heard one single person be supportive of it,” said an Army staff sergeant at Fort Hood who asked not to be identified by name.

A Military Times survey of more than 750 active-duty troops this week found service members oppose military action in Syria by a margin of about three to one.

The survey conducted online Monday and Tuesday found that about 75 percent of troops are not in favor of air strikes in response to reports that the Syrian government used chemical weapons to kill civilians in that country.

A higher percentage of troops, about 80 percent, say they do not believe getting involved in the two-year-old civil war is in the U.S. national interest.

The results suggest that opposition inside the military may be more intense than among the U.S. population at large. About 64 percent of Americans oppose air strikes, according to a recent Washington Post-ABC News poll published Monday.

Full-scale invasion as the United States deploys troops in 35 African countries

The United States is deploying troops in 35 African countries, beginning with Libya, Sudan, Algeria and Niger. Reported by Associated Press on Christmas Day, this was missing from most Anglo-American media. The invasion has almost nothing to do with “Islamism”, and almost everything to do with the acquisition of resources, notably minerals, and an accelerating rivalry with China.Unlike China, the US and its allies are prepared to use a degree of violence demonstrated in Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Yemen and Palestine.

As in the cold war, a division of labour requires that western journalism and popular culture provide the cover of a holy war against a “menacing arc” of Islamic extremism, no different from the bogus “red menace” of a worldwide communist conspiracy.

Into Africa: US to Send Troops to 35 Nations Next Year

Odierno Touts Plan for Fast Deployments Anywhere in the World

The creation of the US African Command (Africom) of course pointed to US involvements in wars on the continent, and indeed the US has since fought a war in Libya, deployed troops of Uganda, and is planning for another war in Mali.

But what they don’t have compared to, say, CENTCOM, is an established collection of nations with US troops stations waiting for wars to break out. That will soon change, as the Army is planning to send troops to “as many as 35 African nations early next year.”

The numbers will be small, at least at first, but done with an eye on Gen. Raymond Odierno’s “Regionally Aligned Forces” plan, giving the US the ability to quickly deploy troops anywhere on the planet.

The comparative lack of things for the US military to do in Africa has long kept the US out of Africa. Since the establishment of Africom, officials seem to figure that with enough troops and enough countries involved, the question of what wars and where can be worked out at their leisure.

It’s being reported that Bulgaria has invited the US to send troops to its territory. One Bulgarian daily newspaper says Washington has already pumped around 60 million dollars into rebuilding a training range in the country’s East. The government in Sofia says this will help boost regional security and assist with the training of its soldiers. Anti-war activist Brian Becker says the US is seeking to extend its influence in eastern Europe.

Are voters finally fed-up enough to go for the block?

By Lori Stacey

From the far left to the far right and everywhere in between, American voters are more dissatisfied with the choices of only Barack Obama or Mitt Romney than perhaps anytime in our nation’s history. Thanks to the internet and alternative media sources, voters also are more aware than ever before that there are other choices on the ballot or available via certified write-in status and are finding out about them long before the shock of seeing their actual ballot on election day when it is often too late to research who the other candidates are or what they stand for.

The sham and concerted effort by the entire political system itself and the national mainstream media to try to hide, belittle or exclude the other choices has perhaps reached such a truly un-American level of stench that maybe, just maybe, voters will have finally decided that they have had enough.

The truth is that millions of Americans are finding alternative party, independent and official write-in candidates that they don’t have to plug their nose to vote for and can get excited about. Whether it is Ron Paul that is expected to be a certified write-in candidate in at least a dozen states, Dr. Jill Stein or Gary Johnson that appeal to social liberals, Vigil Goode or others that appeal to social conservatives, the truth is that the field of candidates running outside the 2-party sham on America are offering real choices that people can support. What they seem to have in common is their recognition that we must get the federal government back in adherence with our constitution, defend our freedoms and finally bring our troops home.

If voters finally stand up on their own set of principles and ideals and just vote for the best individual candidate rather than settling for a major party label, at least a powerful message of blowback will finally be heard in Washington, DC. If enough people reject Obama and Romney, it could result in some state victories for the other candidates. If each of the most popular alternative candidates were able to pick off victories in a state or two each, it could be possible to block both Barack Obama and Mitt Romney from reaching the required 270 electoral votes necessary to win the election outright. Then it would be thrown to the US House to decide and they would of course choose either Romney or Obama. The important thing though is that the 2-party monster of menace would never be the same again.

A group of teenagers put together a video plea to vote only for candidates that will stand up for our founding principles and save their future. They are involved in the organization www.im2moro.org. It is currently going viral across the web. (see video) Will the adults actually take their advice and vote on principle or cave yet again to party loyalty that is bringing our nation to its knees? Aren’t we supposed to be electing a person to live on Pennsylvania Avenue, not a party?

U.S. Army calls social network use and 'frustration with mainstream ideologies' indicators of violent extremism

When the US Army asked the Asymmetric Warfare Group for a guide to identifying the radicalization of troops into violent extremists, some items – like asking about WMDS – were expected to make the list. But how about involvement in social networks?

Documents obtained by Wired‘s Danger Room reveal that the AWG, a US military unit created during the War on Terror to provide additional means of support to American troops, may have had a rather peculiar notion about what breeds extremism among US troops. According to presentations that Danger Room has come to possess, frustration with mainstream ideologies and displaying a concentrated rhetoric among other recruits may be warning sides of radicalization, as well as factors such as being “highly emotional,” involved in “social networks” or being a “youth” also indicating a great risk for expediting the process into identifying as a violent extremist.

The materials are dated from 2011, and that August’s tactical reference tear-sheet on “Radicalization into Violent Extremism: a guide for military leaders,” suggest that the Army division assigned to identifying trends to be weary of on the battlefields and barracks may make just any average American – especially a young one, apparently – on track to become an unpredictable insurgent.

Wired’s Spencer Ackerman says that that AWG assessment in question came to be shortly after Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan went on a rampage at Fort Hood in 2009, but notes that the indicators used to identify any copy-cat attacks on US soil are anything but explicit.

DHS and US Military Make Final Preparations Before Announcing Martial LawInformants and military personnel are coming forth anonymously to confirm that martial law “is right around the corner.” However, right now we are under a silent martial law and citizens are reporting strange and unexplainable activity from the US armed forces and multiple federal agencies that point to a covert preparatory operation to completely lock down America in the very near future.

Sources from multiple locations across the nation have independently confirmed that the US military are repositioning soldiers in conjunction with allied foreign troops in the initial stages of martial law.

The US military are secretly moving massive amounts of “equipment” across the country consistently for more than a year. In Phoenix, Arizona, tractor-trailers transporting tanks on public highways have been spotted. One witness stated that he saw these flatbeds multiple times in the month of June. Eye witness reports are coming primarily from the northern and southern Border States.

Peter Santilli, an ex-marine informant who was a specialist in aviation deployed weapons, explains that a refrigerated truck, allocated by the administration department on base, was directed to the commissary, where the unsuspecting driver believed that he was transporting food. The weapon was placed at the head of the trailer, and covered up with either food stores (like cans of soup) or body bags. In the event that the truck is stopped en route, the weapon would be well hidden and go undetected by inspectors on the public highways.

Santilli, who was assigned to ride in the cab of the truck with the driver, says that his orders were to make sure the truck arrived at its destination. If there were problems concerning potential civil unrest, he was to radio into his superiors for aid by either air or ground support. Should the situation warrant serious attention; crowd control methods would be implemented.
