The Amber Lyon story is just the latest in a series of articles that expose the total Joseph Goebbels like censorship rampant in mainstream media today. The first one I posted several weeks ago exposed how the NY Times basically just regurgitates whatever government officials tell them, while the other showcased how an NPR reporter covering D.C. had to leave and do her own thing out of frustration. This is precisely why alternative media sites are taking off. They provide the only outlets left for genuine journalism.
So back to Amber. Back in March 2011, CNN sent a four person team to Bahrain to cover the Arab Spring. Once there, the crew was the subject of extreme intimidation amongst other things, but they were able to record some fantastic footage. As Glenn Greenwald of the UK’s Guardian writes in his blockbuster article from today:
In the segment, Lyon interviewed activists as they explicitly described their torture at the hands of government forces, while family members recounted their relatives’ abrupt disappearances. She spoke with government officials justifying the imprisonment of activists. And the segment featured harrowing video footage of regime forces shooting unarmed demonstrators, along with the mass arrests of peaceful protesters. In sum, the early 2011 CNN segment on Bahrain presented one of the starkest reports to date of the brutal repression embraced by the US-backed regime.
Despite these accolades, and despite the dangers their own journalists and their sources endured to produce it, CNN International (CNNi) never broadcast the documentary. Even in the face of numerous inquiries and complaints from their own employees inside CNN, it continued to refuse to broadcast the program or even provide any explanation for the decision. To date, this documentary has never aired on CNNi.
Having just returned from Bahrain, Lyon says she “saw first-hand that these regime claims were lies, and I couldn’t believe CNN was making me put what I knew to be government lies into my reporting.”
After Lyon’s crew returned from Bahrain, CNN had no correspondents regularly reporting on the escalating violence. In emails to her producers and executives, Lyon repeatedly asked to return to Bahrain. Her requests were denied, and she was never sent back. She thus resorted to improvising coverage by interviewing activists via Skype in an attempt, she said, “to keep Bahrain in the news”.
In March 2012, Lyon was laid off from CNN as part of an unrelated move by the network to outsource its investigative documentaries.
“At this point,” Lyon said, “I look at those payments as dirty money to stay silent. I got into journalism to expose, not help conceal, wrongdoing, and I’m not willing to keep quiet about this any longer, even if it means I’ll lose those payments.”
Amber Lyon, I salute you.

(NaturalNews) Millions of Americans have long suspected that the so-called “mainstream media” is big-time controlled, whether selectively or institutionally. A recent New York Times story not only substantiates that belief, it proves just how controlled the messages are that are coming from those who mean to rule over us. What’s more, the story demonstrates that most major media sources are complicit in the packaging of information the public is “allowed” to hear.
The revelations may not necessarily be groundbreaking news to many Americans who already suspected they weren’t getting unfiltered and unbiased reporting, though the extent of control over the information reaching the public from the major campaigns may surprise many.
But the revelations should certainly be disturbing to voters who are trying to make choices based on altered or incomplete information.
Of course, that’s the point. Full disclosure would mean giving a rival something to campaign for (or against), so it’s understandable for a candidate to want to carefully control his or her message.
Where it becomes shameful is when the media willingly goes along.

Please remember regarding the Secret Service, when the story first broke, Columbia expelled the secret service people for their actions, not the DC administration. So we have more than just a break in secret service procedure. Betting good money, although still fiat, these “hookers” were well under age. It would be a nice comparison as to who this issue was reported in the Columbian press verses the white washed filtered news we see daily for the main stream media. Never assume, what was the age and were they girls or boys that the secret service members were hunting for?

Ron Paul may officially have come in third in Iowa. But actually be the Overall Winner in Delegates for him. Not hearing “Iowa doesn’t matter” in media now. Why is that? Paul’s Iowa Speech
Ron Paul may have officially (fraudulently?) come in third in Iowa’s caucus after GOP’s secret counting of votes in Iowa, but in reality he may be the over all winner with delegates.
Iowa elects their delegates right after the caucuses are done in Iowa so Ron Paul supporters made sure to stay for the election of delegates.
So, in reality Ron Paul could possibly have the majority of the delegates of Iowa for the GOP convention in Tampa this summer!
This is so totally Awesome! Considering all the fraud of the media and GOP in their lies about Ron Paul and ignoring him, Paul’s supporters may have beat them any way.
It is amazing how those who follow Ron Paul are being called “cult members”. I have a question about that.
How come all those who followed Obama in 2008 were called supporters and not cult members? How come because people believe in Ron Paul and our freedoms in the United States, besides small government, ending of the wars and financially stability, we are called cult members?
Does that mean those who followed our founding fathers were also cult members? Since Ron Paul believes in going back to the country that our fore founders created 240 years ago and the people that follow him believe that too, how is it we are cult members?
It proves how the media and government officials are so corrupt, since believing in the country as it was formed is now considered “wacko, cultish, crazy, etc”.
OH,…… one other question – Gosh darn I am not hearing from the media this morning how “Iowa doesn’t matter.” What happened? All of a sudden Iowa does matter? I would like to know why “Iowa matters” now in the media. What happened to all that Iowa’s caucuses are not how the rest of the country will vote?
Don’t people see, even the most asleep now that Romney “officially” won, the media are saying How important Iowa is?
The media are also saying “Ron Paul only got 21% of the vote” they are showing him with the “bottom tier” now of candidates.
FYI – Drudge had a caucus vote up on the page last night, Ron Paul had a land slide victory over all the others, but the vote is no where to be found now on the site.
I watched Ron Paul’s speech last night and was thrilled the cable news networks ran the whole speech. Ron Paul was very smart to make his speech during a lull time and force the media to give him attention, so he could get his real message across to the people.

Ron Paul is on CNN right now 12/4/12 8:10 AM est – They are trying to play “gotcha” with him, but also something I noticed. Every time they ask Ron Paul a question and he is answering it – they turn up the volume on the back ground noise in the cafe, so you can barely hear Ron Paul. When they are asking the questions the back ground noise is hardly there. Jeez……. I guess the people just talk more and louder when Ron Paul speaks, funny how that is.
FYI – CNN – It was so frickin obvious last night you cut off the Military Ron Paul supporter speaking last night….. people are not stupid!
I can only laugh at the media and I hope others are using enough common sense to see what the media does.
Now this is so funny – MSM is so blatant in their dislike of Paul.
Both Romney and Paul were on the Today show this morning. What is funny is when you click on the Ron Paul video part of the Today show it goes to Romney’s interview on the Today show. In fact you can’t even pause it or anything. I have tried multiple times to watch the video, but each time it is Romney.
MSM is so blatant in their hiding Ron Paul. I guess “We the People” will show them, the more they do it the more people will vote for Ron Paul!

Exploding from every political direction, people are enraged about the dirty deals happening in Washington DC. The Ron Paul news blackout, and other news blackouts

I am glad that Ron Paul raised between $2 million and $3 million from his super-bomb tied to the news blackout against him. On this, I agree with Ron Paul, very strongly. I have certainly not blacked out Ron Paul, and while his supporters like some of my columns and not other columns, I have always tried to give him the attention he deserves, and explore various aspects of his philosophy, especially some commonalities between Ron and Occupy Wall Street on certain issues.
It is amazing that Paul, who has serious ideas and a serious following, has received comparatively little attention compared to, say, Donald Trump. He is right about this, and I am glad he raised money in response to this.
I have been a critic of much major media on various levels. For today, here is another example.
On the “Meet the Press” this past Sunday there was a discussion of Occupy Wall Street that included panelists Jack Welch (obviously no friend of Occupy), David Brooks (who has attacked Occupy) and the man billed as former Democratic Rep. Harold Ford (who has various relationships, almost never disclosed to viewers, with Morgan Stanley, Merrill Lynch, Bank of America and Goldman Sachs).
You get the idea. Three voices on one side, while the other side, the Occupy Wall Street side, is blacked out in this panel on “Meet the Press” without even fair disclosure of the financial interests of Harold Ford, who in my view represents what is wrong with the Democratic Party.
I could go on.
For now, I think Ron Paul has a valid complaint. I think there are dramatic biases in far too many places in the media. I think some voices are blacked out while others are promoted every day. I think this is wrong whenever it occurs, by whomever the culprit.
I would not give money to Ron Paul myself, but on this matter he is right. If others choose to give him support to give their viewpoints a greater voice, I say:
Bully for them. I get it.

Texas Congressman Ron Paul, a candidate for the Republican presidential nomination, just concluded another successful online campaign fundraiser. According to a press release from Paul’s campaign, the GOP candidate’s “Black This Out” money bomb hauled in $2.75 million in “small donations.” Paul continues to rely on grassroots fundraising efforts to run his campaign.
Paul’s money bomb began on October 19 and finished on October 24. According to the press release, Paul garnered “small donations” from supporters in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, US territories and US military bases. In the 3Q 2011, Paul received more donations from active military members than Obama. Paul also received more donations from active military members than all of the Republican presidential candidates combined.
This moneybomb’s success conveys that Ron Paul’s supporters, whether independent or loosely organized, are poised to dig in deep and back him even during this government-imposed economic downturn,” said Ron Paul 2012 National Campaign Chairman Jesse Benton in the press release. Benton added that the “block of voters supporting Dr. Paul is growing and is comprised of generous Americans having no plans to switch to another candidate.”
Paul’s “Black This Out” money bomb was named after his lack of coverage in the national media. “None of our hard work matters unless I can raise the resources to break through the media blackout and take my message of liberty straight to the voters,” Paul said in an email to his supporters at the beginning of his money bomb.
“Despite polls consistently showing me within striking distance of first place over the past few months…a recent study confirmed the national media’s all-out blackout of my campaign,” Paul argued. Paul cited a Pew Research Center study that confirms that the Texas Congressman has been the main focus of 2 percent of news stories on the 2012 presidential race.
