Peter Schiff & Doug Casey On Gold, Investor Cluelessness, And The “Escape From America” Plan

Source: http://www.zerohedge.com

By Tyler Durden

In just under 30 minutes, Peter Schiff and Doug Casey muse on many facets of the crumbling edifice of the status quo that is our current world.

From Gold’s relatively imminent rise to $5,000 and beyond, to investor ignorance of reality, Casey & Schiff swing from discussions of the US as political entity going forward to ‘escape from America’ plans for personal and wealth assets, and the realization that the biggest casualty (of US indebtedness), aside from individual liberty, is the value of the dollar – as taxing the middle class is unpopular with both parties – leaving only one route for the government – the inflation tax. Owning gold, silver, and foreign assets is preferred and while the rest of the world is also printing, the US is likely to beat them all.

People “are clueless with respect to the true state of the global economy,” with regard to inflation, fiat currencies, and specifically what will happen to the dollar. The conversation is wide-ranging and absolutely must-see as they remind market-watchers that “the whole thing is artificial,” as you can’t just keep printing money and monetizing debt without the dollar imploding with monetary policy descending (along with its trillion dollar coin) into ‘Three Stooges’ comedy.

The conversation weaves to some endgame discussions which bring Peter to discuss his father, who he sees as a political prisoner, and his views on the future…

“the biggest change that is coming to the global economy is a realignment of global living standards.”

There is something here for everyone…

Ron Paul: A notable omission from the list of speakers at the 2012 RNC

Despite having met all of the qualifications to receive a fifteen minutes to speak at the Republican National Convention, Ron Paul is not on the list of speakers.

The Republican National Convention, which is scheduled to last from 27 to 30 August here in Tampa Bay, is expected to draw thousands of visitors into the area. By Friday, 10 August, the Republican National Committee had released the majority of the names of the individuals which had received invitations to speak at the upcoming Republican National Convention. Some of these names include in Thursday’s edition of TBO.com include former Florida Governor Jeb Bush, Current Florida Governor Rick Scott, and Current Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi.

Admittedly, the Republican National Committee claims there are a still few speaking slots, including that of the “Keynote Speaker of the Convention” have yet to be filled, and therefore the selection process has not been completed. However, there is one blatant and inexplicable omission from this list of chosen Republican speakers that could cost the GOP millions of votes in November: Republican Presidential Candidate Ron Paul.

According to the rules set forth at the Republican National Convention in 2008, Ron has met the requirements for receiving a fifteen minute speaking slot. However, to this point, the Republican National Committee has chosen to remain silent on this issue. For a list of the speakers that have been invited to the event within the last few days, including many that did not meet the stringent qualifications set forth by the committee, please read this article from TBO.com.

Mandated requirements to secure a speaking slot at the RNC

According to the rules created and adopted by the Republican National Committee, a candidate for President only needs to have received a plurality, not a majority, of the assigned delegates in just five of the fifty states. At the time of publishing this article, Ron Paul had earned the plurality of the delegates in Iowa, Minnesota, Maine, Louisiana, and Nevada, which gives Paul the necessary five states. Paul may have also received a plurality of the delegates in Massachusetts and Colorado, which would bring the number of states to seven. This can be found in the transcripts of one of Ben Swann’s Reality Check segments from July.

Ron Paul Draws 5,600 Voters to Final of Three Campaign Events in California this Week

Sole conservative seeking Republican nomination gets warm welcome from University of California – San Diego students and broader community

LAKE JACKSON, Texas – 2012 Republican Presidential candidate Ron Paul continued his pattern of attracting large crowds of supporters and undecided voters to his town hall meetings, this time drawing 5,600-plus people to an event at the University of California at San Diego.

The UC – San Diego event with 5,600-plus people was the third of three such events the 12-term Congressman from Texas held in the Golden State this week.  On Wednesday Ron Paul drew a remarkable 4,000-plus crowd to Cal State – Fullerton, and last night Dr. Paul drew 5,000-plus people to UC – Davis.

Ron Paul’s town hall meeting at UC – San Diego took place at 7:00 p.m. PST on the school’s Warren Mall in San Diego, CA 92161.  The 12-term Congressman from Texas discussed his platform of constitutionally-limited government, the restoration of our economic and civil liberties, and elements of his path-breaking ‘Plan to Restore America.’

This second multiday visit to California by Ron Paul follows his early-April campaign swing in the Golden State.  During that tour, Dr. Paul’s visits to Cal State – Chico, UCLA, and UC – Berkeley drew a remarkable 6,200-plus,6,000-plus, and 8,500-plus supporters and undecided voters, respectively.  Ron Paul’s California town hall meetings have featured some of the largest crowds of his 2012 race for the Republican nomination.

Ron Paul Has Won: Young People Engage With Liberty, Limited Government, Sound Money, Anti-War Principles

The next generation of leaders in America are Ron Paul fans

When Congressman Ron Paul embarked on a third Presidential campaign he did so with one over riding aim – to engage the next generation of Americans and provide them with the platform to restore the principles of the Constitution. The facts show that he has overwhelmingly succeeded.

Tuesday’s primary in New Hampshire saw the Congressman net almost half of all votes from people aged between 18 and 29 years old. Paul received 47 percent of young voter support, data collated by the Center for Information & Research on Civic Learning & Engagement shows.

“Dr. Paul’s 47 percent support from 18- to 29-year-olds was the strongest level of support for any candidate by any age group.” said CIRCLE Director Peter Levine in a press release.

Ron Paul stormed the primary among young voters by a margin of 22 percentage points, more than doubling his youth votes since the 2008 New Hampshire primary. In comparison, Mitt Romney drew around the same number of young voters as he did four years ago, roughly 25 percent. This highlights how Ron Paul’s policies and principles have resonated with the future of the nation.

The number of young voters who turned out for Paul in New Hampshire was close to 14,000. By comparison, the number of young voters who voted for Barack Obama in the 2008 primary was around 26,000. Even the most hardened critics were forced to admit that those figures alone are impressive. Data on young voter participation among Democrats in Tuesday’s primary wasn’t available, but Paul’s numbers will surely be even closer to Obama’s when disillusioned Democrats are factored in.

The results in New Hampshire dovetail with those out of Iowa, where Paul earned the support of 48 percent of the 18,000 Iowans under the age of 30 who participated in the GOP Caucuses. Rick Santorum came in second with 23 percent, while Romney gathered just 13 percent support.

The statistics show that a very substantial 8,800 young people caucused for Ron Paul in Iowa. That means that young voters supported Ron Paul in a far greater percentage than any other age group supported any candidate in the State. Indeed, people under 30 provided Ron Paul with one third of his total votes.

The Congressman constantly praises his young supporters and points out that they are so enamored with his campaign because “freedom is popular” and “That’s where the enthusiasm is”.

Even more statistics released this week highlight the fact that Paul’s ideas have set alight the youth of the nation.

A detailed survey of all U.S. Facebook users provided to POLITICO by Facebook, shows that Paul absolutely dominates the volume of posts, status updates, links shared to friends’ walls and user comments on the world’s most popular social network site.

In the run up to the Iowa caucuses, Paul reached around one quarter MILLION mentions on Facebook, according to the data. The Congressman is routinely by far the most discussed candidate, making him the outright winner of the so called “Facebook primary”.

In addition, an analysis of Twitter traffic by number crunchers Crimson Hexagon shows that Paul dominated the discussion on twitter in the week of the New Hampshire vote.

Paul was mentioned by 26 percent of tweets from Jan. 6-11, while Romney was mentioned 22 percent of the time. Paul also was mentioned more often on Twitter on the day after the primary, with 27 percent to 26 percent for Romney, while Gingrich and Santorum were each mentioned 15 percent of the time.

Earlier this month, three other separate studies also revealed that Ron Paul’s presidential campaign is surging across the social networks and the internet.

Not only is Paul by far the most viral GOP candidate on Facebook and  Twitter, he has the largest network reach of all the candidates, and is the most interacted with and trusted by users of all the other major social networks online.

In comments to TIME for a piece on Paul’s youth appeal, Paul’s campaign manager, Jesse Benton, recently noted that young people have an “amazing BS meter,” and they often say they see Paul as more sincere, more reliable than the other candidates. “They haven’t had time to become cynical yet,” Benton added.

Ideas are bullet proof and the Ron Paul Revolution is growing exponentially. In this very real sense, Paul has already won the decisive victory he recognizes is infinitely more meaningful than the office of the presidency.
