Blount County voters will once again decide if they wish to pay a Wheel Tax, in the specially called election on June 11. The cost to the taxpayers for the special election will be at least $80,000, but saving money is of little concern to the resolution sponsors who have a habitual history of tax and fee increases. The Wheel Tax is the latest demonstration that being a Republican doesn’t necessarily mean limited government and low taxes.
All 21 members of the Blount County Commission were elected as Republicans in 2010, at a time when people were angry with Democrats and calling for a return to constitutionally limited government. The Blount County Republican Party sent a post card mailer warning people not to vote for local Democrats because of the big tax and spending Democrats in Washington DC. The three Democrats on the Commission were easily defeated.
Blount County voters handily defeated a wheel tax in 2006, with 71% of the voters rejecting it. Voters rejected a sales tax increase in 2008. Both of these votes took place prior to the current Commission, but Republicans had a super majority on the previous Commission, with a majority of the current Commissioners sitting on the previous Commission.
The current all-Republican Commission voted to raise the property tax rate the first year of their new term in 2011. While some of the Republican Commissioners voted against the tax increase, many of them voted for most or all of the spending that caused the tax increase, which makes them guilty of big spending and culpable for the tax increase.
Instead of creating a Committee to cut waste, the Commission created a Committee to Study Lost Revenue. The all-Republican Commission finished out the last month of the first year of their current term with litigation fee increases, with the resolution reading “WHEREAS, Blount County is in need of additional revenue.”
Rather than increase property tax in the second year of the current term, a sales tax increase was proposed in 2012. Blount County voters defeated the proposed sales tax increase a second time, but with a much narrower margin of defeat than in 2008.
Now the Wheel Tax is back, as the all-Republican Commission faces a huge spending increase from Blount County Schools, in its third year. The timing of the special election is interesting, the middle of June when School is out and people are taking vacations. The Commission has been unable to get voters in November elections, when voter turnout is at its highest, to approve tax increases. The date of the election appears to be deliberately set to catch people off guard so that the tax can be slid through, knowing that government employees usually vote, while hoping that those opposed are unaware or busy during the specially called election.
Republicans gave Blount Countians a property tax increase and fee increases in their first year. Republicans tried to give Blount Countians a sales tax increase in their second year. Now Blount Countians are faced with a Wheel Tax. The Commission could implement a Wheel Tax on its own authority with a two-thirds majority vote during two consecutive Commission meetings. Republican Commissioners don’t want to do this, partly because they hope to get the voter to do it for them.
The other reason is because the Wheel Tax won’t fix the School Budget problem entirely. The $86.8 million School Budget means a funding deficit of $6.9 million. Commissioner Holden Lail, one of the Wheel Tax resolution sponsors who is a retired Blount County educator and is married to Blount County educator, doesn’t know how much the Wheel Tax will actually generate. Estimates range from $2.5-3.5 million, which is far short of the $6.9 million needed. The Commission would then have to decide whether to increase the property tax rate to fund the deficit or tell the School Board to cut its budget.
The Wheel Tax proposal is sloppy, slothful and sly. It’s sloppy because the amount it generates is unknown but the best estimate shows it only providing about half of the requested increase. It’s slothful because it raises taxes without making any attempt to cut wasteful spending. It’s sly because it’s planned to avoid a general election so that County employees can ramrod it through.
The people of Blount County need to critically evaluate the performance of this all-Republican Commission. Voters have rejected all proposed tax increases, while the all Republican Commission has proposed a tax increase each year. Republicans railed about the dangers of big government Democrats in Washington DC in 2010, but the people of Blount County have an all-Republican Commission that hasn’t gone a single year without trying to increase taxes since their rhetoric about the Democrats in Washington DC.

(NaturalNews) An Indiana couple saved a wounded baby deer and nursed it back to life, saving its life and giving it a home. They named it “Little Orphan Dani.” When Indiana state officials got word of this courageous act of compassion, they ordered the deer euthanized. (Because government wants to kill everything you love.)When the deer “escaped” right before it was schedule to be killed — and yes, I think the couple probably set it free rather than have it killed — the man and woman were charged with unlawful possession of a deer.They now face $2,000 in fines and 60 days in jail.
This is yet another example of the government police state gone wild, and it’s on top of seemingly countless other stories of similar police state insanity such as armed government raids on raw milk distributors.

Who wants to kill the deer and imprison the couple? The DNR
The bastard a@#holes behind this action are, predictably, the Indiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR). This is the same name as the department in Michigan that forced small farmers in that state to murder their own baby pigs.
What we are seeing today across America, both at the state and federal levels, is big government gone BAD, ignoring the real criminals at the top while threatening, fining and imprisoning the “little people” who are only trying to do the right thing.
Recent examples:
Michigan gardener Julie Bass was threatened with jail time for teaching her young son gardening skills in a home garden planted in her front yard.
A woman in Tulsa, Oklahoma had her medicinal garden destroyed by thuggish government “officials” who waited until she was gone before gutting her entire plot of edible herbs.
James Stewart, the California “raw milk man,” was subjected to unbelievable jail torture in LA county for the “crime” of distributing fresh farm milk to happy customers. His “Rawesome Foods” was hit with an armed multi-agency government raid during which $50,000 in fresh eggs, milk, fruit and meat was confiscated and then destroyed. As he was held in jail in LA county, he was subjected to starvation, hypothermia and having his jail cell intentionally flooded with raw human feces as punishment.
These are just a few of the many examples of the government police state gone mad in America. There are many more for anyone who dares to look.
Government has become too large, too powerful, too arrogant and too dangerous
The big picture in all this? America’s current government is a grave danger to America herself. We are living under increasing tyranny, total government surveillance of our emails, texts and phone calls, and selective enforcement of laws in order to punish the little people while the powerful elite run free.
As an example of that, New York Mayor Bloomberg insists that everyone in New York should be stripped of all their firearms, but he walks around with five armed goons who intimidate journalists for daring to ask questions about Bloomberg’s outrageous hypocrisy.
America is being divided into the “privileged” class versus the working class. The privileged elite are immune to virtually all prosecution of existing laws while the working class are subjected to every nit-picking technical violation of every law imaginable. Nearly every person alive today commits three felonies a day without even knowing it. In fact, that’s the title of an eye-opening book by Harvey Silverglate.
As the book’s description states:
The average professional in this country wakes up in the morning, goes to work, comes home, eats dinner, and then goes to sleep, unaware that he or she has likely committed several federal crimes that day. All government operates with the threat of violence against us all
Remember: All government operates at the end of a gun. Government achieves compliance solely by the threat of violence against the People. This is what is brilliantly revealed by Lew Rockwell and other intelligent critics of big government.
The reason government wants all Americans disarmed right now is because it wants a monopoly of violence that can be used against people to destroy their home gardens, criminalize saving animals, mandate forced vaccines, shut down medicinal herb companies and routinely terrorize the people. Even while the government wants us all to be disarmed, it is buying up thousands of full-auto assault rifles as well as over a billion rounds of ammunition to be used domestically, inside the USA.
Have you figured it out yet? There is no Al-Quaeda. There is no Bin Laden. The real terrorists are power-hungry government berserkers within our own government, and they will stop at nothing to usurp power and enslave the masses.
I’ve been shouting this for years, and with each astonishing transgression of this liberty-crushing government, more and more people are waking up. Every time the government threatens another innocent gardener, parent or animal rescue person with imprisonment, tens of thousands of people hear about it and wake up to the reality that government in America has gone rogue. It no longer serves the People. Instead, it considers the People to be its enemy, and it is dedicated to crushing the People.
It’s time we put government in its place. It’s time we took a stand for all the innocent victims of the terrorist government currently running things in this country. It’s time we stopped the government bailouts to rich, wealthy banksters and the criminalization of routine human activities like saving wounded animals or growing home gardens.

(NaturalNews) While the U.S. government is desperately attempting to disarm the American population by rolling out Adolf Hitler-style gun control, it is simultaneously arming itself to the teeth, buying up 1.6 billion rounds of ammunition and now stockpiling it at ammo depot stations around the country.
The hypocrisy of it all is stunning. While screaming, “GUNS ARE BAD!” to American farmers, ranchers and citizens, the government is buying up billions of dollars worth of guns and ammo itself. This isn’t ammo to be used in a foreign theater of war, by the way, it’s ammo that can only be used domestically, against the American people. (The hollow point ammo violates international war treaties and so cannot be used in international war actions.)

The US State Department is in an uproar over reports of a possible Russian delivery of military equipment purchased by the government of Syria.
Says State Department spokesperson Victoria Nuland: “You know how strongly we feel that no country should be delivering weapons to the Assad regime now.”
Nuland and her fellow regime-changers in the Administration are in the meantime silent on the US role in facilitating the shipment of arms to the Syrian rebels — weapons which ironically (or not?) may be making their way to the various al-Qaeda affiliates which have set up shop in Syria and set their sights on the Assad government.
Despite rebel claims that the Syrian government is blowing up its own governmental buildings and killing its own security forces to make the rebels look bad, the UN has acknowledged that the bombings are being carried out by non-governmental terrorist groups.
Violence in Syria sharply declined at the beginning of the UN aided ceasefire, leading some to hope that the worst of the conflict might be over. However, as soon as the US began supplying the rebels with specialized communications equipment enabling them to more accurately target government forces and institutions, some of the most deadly and gruesome bombings have taken place. The bombings display a brazen disregard for civilian life, as evident in the horrific car bomb attack on a Syrian government intelligence facility in Damascus earlier this month that killed some 55, most of whom were civilian non-combatants.
The Obama regime, which is every bit as warmongering and obsessed with exporting a Soviet-like “global democratic revolution” by force as its predecessor, has condemned and undermined every attempt to ratchet down the crisis in Syria. Voting on a new constitution introducing some pluralism into the system was condemned when it was not ignored. UN efforts to put in place a ceasefire and facilitate dialogue between the sides was ignored. Parliamentary elections this month which included non-Baathist parties as promised in the government’s reform program “border[ed] on ludicrous,” said another State Department flack.
For the US Administration it is regime change and only regime change. Eggs must be broken if the global democratic revolution omelet is to be cooked up. Trotsky smiles up from his perch in hell.
Ron Paul Says Santorum Can’t Beat Obama

Ron Paul said he doesn’t think that Rick Santorum can defeat President Obama in a general election. “I don’t see how that’s possible,” he said on Sunday on CNN’s State of the Union.
Paul also jabbed at Santorum for his aim “to control peoples’ lives” and what he framed as Santorum’s hypocrisy on the birth control issue.
Santorum admitted in a 2006 interview on Fox News that he supported Title X, a government program that provides funds for family planning services, including access to contraceptives. Santorum said he voted for it during his time as Pennsylvania Senator, and though he believes in access to contraceptives, he personally feels they’re harmful to women and that abstinence education is a “healthier” option.
“I don’t see how anybody can get away with that inconsistency—pretending he’s a conservative,” Paul said in reference to Santorum’s vote.
Paul dismissed the recent debate over contraception entirely, saying that while the other candidates discuss birth control, he’s concerned with “the undermining of our civil liberties, the constant wars going on” and the debt.
Paul said the focus on social issues is a fundamental problem and an unwise fight for the GOP.
“I think it’s a losing position,” he said. “I talk about it because I have a precise understanding of how these problems are to be solved,” on a state-specific level, he said.

In an interview with Rock Cellar Magazine, director Oliver Stone said that he would support Ron Paul over Obama in the upcoming presidential elections.
In his newest book, “On History,” Stone discussed America’s current economy, saying that there is “a potential wild card in an internal economic collapse of the empire.”
Stone called America an “empire,” saying that its current spending spree is responsible for the empire’s inevitable collapse. The only person that could potentially prevent this collapse, he said in the interview, is Ron Paul.
“In fact, I think in many ways the most interesting candidate – I’d even vote for him if he was running against Obama – is Ron Paul,” he said.
“He’s the only one of anybody who’s saying anything intelligent about the future of the world.”
Stone went on to criticize Obama’s comments when welcoming home the troops from Iraq. Obama had said that the U.S. had achieved “stability, freedom, and democracy” in Iraq.
“It was the same language that Bush used,” Stone said, “and Obama was the guy who called Iraq a ‘dumb war.’”
Ron Paul is the only candidate, Stone said, who does not “pay obeisance to this hypocrisy that the U.S. is a good force in the world,” a fantasy that the U.S. cannot afford.
Stone is also known for directing Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps, W., JFK, and Born on the Fourth of July.
