TAMPA, August 30, 2012 – Anyone who has followed the Republican Party presidential nominating process knows the typical Ron Paul supporter. He or she is young, passionate about Paul’s platform, and willing to ride buses all night and knock on doors all day to support Ron Paul. Most often, he or she has never participated in the political process before.

Doug Wead couldn’t be less typical in that respect. Wead is a longtime Republican Party insider. He’s worked on seven Republican presidential campaigns, starting with Barry Goldwater’s in 1964. He’s also worked in three administrations, for Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush. He has entertained presidents at his house and visited theirs.

Before 2008, he didn’t know who Ron Paul was and wouldn’t have agreed with him on much…

“Elektable” is a short fictional film about Ron Paul and the amazing political revolution he has inspired. The movie explores truth in the media and how it secretly holds a deep affection for Dr. Paul.

This film features copyrighted content. Feel free to share this official version far and wide but please do not re-edit this film and share online.

On a more serious note, Ron Paul still has a chance to win the GOP nomination. This will only happen if a majority of Americans realize that he is the true champion of the people. No amount of money and blatant blackouts can deny Dr. Paul the nomination if enough people get behind him and his message.

The film was written and directed by Jeremy Richter, a filmmaker from Chicago. Mr. Richter has worked on hundreds of TV commercials, brand films and corporate videos. In 2008, he served as Writer/Director for the full length feature film “Discovering Deerpath” (Rated “G”, 124 minutes, with Bill Kurtis). Mr. Richter has worked directly with a range of celebrities, including Anchorman 1 & 2 star Bill Kurtis, hip hop artist Ludacris, Apollo 8 & 13 Astronaut Jim Lovell, golf Legend Arnold Palmer and World War II icon Greeley Wells (who brought the stars and stripes onto Iwo Jima).

War Breaks out in GOP: Broken bones

“In yet another instance, Ron Paul supporter Alex Helwig, Chairman of the Rules Committee who made the motion to remove the chair, was arrested by Shreveport police and released.  During his brief detainment, some of his fingers were broken and when he returned to the event he was walking with aid of a cane.”

This report from inside the Ron Paul campaign gives you a glimpse of the resistance from establishment Republican Party operatives as they seek to hold power.  Meanwhile, the GOP continues to experience its transformation.  Ron Paul supporters are enduring false arrests, detainment, broken bones and slander as they simply exercise their constitutional rights of voting and participating in party politics.  Keep in mind, the final outcome, as explained to me, was a good one.  And in spite of brutal tactics from some in the establishment who are trying to cling to power, the Republicans of Louisiana will be represented in Tampa.  Most of them will be supporters of Ron Paul, cheering on the GOP nominee.

Here is the report:

“Louisiana GOP officials ignored the vast majority of duly elected delegates and attempted to use illegally adopted rules to deny Ron Paul supporters an opportunity to attend the Republican National Convention in Tampa.  Louisiana has 46 delegates.  Five were pledged to Mitt Romney based on the March 23rd primary result and Rick Santorum received 10, meaning most delegates were contestable at the state convention.

“Delegates to the state convention were chosen at caucus meetings on April 28th.  Ron Paul slates won four of six congressional district contests.  Of the approximately 180 delegates attending the state convention, 113 voted to remove the LAGOP chairman when he failed to respond to requests for information and other motions from delegates.  Nearly two-thirds of the delegates began physically moving their chairs, literally turning their back on the GOP chair appointed by the party hierarchy.

“In another instance, State Central Committeeman and Ron Paul supporter Henry Herford Jr. of Franklin Parrish was attacked by some security officials who didn’t realize that the body had voted out the previous chairman.  Mr. Herford has a prosthetic hip and according to a doctor at the scene it appears as though the prosthetic was dislocated and may require replacement.  The injury occurred as he was beginning to call to order the newly re-formed convention.

“In yet another instance, Ron Paul supporter Alex Helwig, Chairman of the Rules Committee who made the motion to remove the chair, was arrested by Shreveport police and released.  During his brief detainment, some of his fingers were broken and when he returned to the event he was walking with aid of a cane.

Paul’s “Machine”

By Jack Hunter

Ron Paul is 3 for 3 in his endorsements in the last two weeks. Paul endorsed Kurt Bills, and Bills is now the GOP nominee for the U.S. Senate race in Minnesota. Paul endorsed Thomas Massie, and Massie is now the GOP nominee in Kentucky’s 4th congressional district race. Paul endorsed Ted Cruz, and as of last night Cruz will now go head-to-head with Lt. Governor David Dewhurst in a Texas runoff for the GOP nomination for U.S. Senate.

Coincidence? Not according to Buzzfeed’s Rosie Gray who says Ron and Rand Paul are building a “machine:”

Ron Paul, still, if barely, a presidential candidate, suffered another landslide defeat in the Kentucky primary last week. But the Pauls won anyway: Their hand-picked candidate Thomas Massie, backed by Kentucky senator Rand Paul and funded by a wealthy 21-year-old Texan Paul acolyte with a super PAC, won his hotly-contested House primary by a decisive margin.

Quietly, from the remnants of two failed presidential campaigns and the formidable online Paul organizations, a political machine is being born. The Paul agenda of extremely limited government, suspicion of economic elites, and their true outsider street cred have broad appeal in their party’s politics… The Republican Senate nominees in Wisconsin and Minnesota this cycle owe their nomination in part to the Paul influence. A Paul acolyte, Ted Cruz, is on the cusp of an upset victory over the establishment favorite in Texas Republican Senate primary. And Paul’s son Rand, the junior senator from Kentucky, is now mentioned seriously as a prospect for the 2016 Republican nomination should Mitt Romney fall short in November.

This new attention to state races is, a Paul advisor said, a matter of strategy.

“As Ron Paul moves on to a different phase, there will be other leaders who are in a position to emerge,” said the Republican strategist close to the Paul campaign. “Obviously the more people who are sympathetic to their issues, a host of those is a positive thing for the bigger movement. That’s part of the objectives.”

Of the major strategic goals that Paul’s camp is focusing on now — picking up delegates, getting issues onto the platform at the convention, and getting libertarians included in the mainstream Republican party — the last is “critical,” the strategist said:“You’ve got a bunch of other people who can go and lead and build off our infrastructures…”

“Congressman and Senator Paul are both deeply dedicated to helping elect principled Constitutionalists to office and are both working directly and indirectly with dozens of candidates across the country,” said Paul campaign manager Jesse Benton.

A few high-profile candidates, like Ted Cruz in Texas, have been particularly successful at profiting from the Paul anointment. Father and son appeared with him at a rally in Texas and conducted a moneybomb for him. And recent polling suggests Cruz will make it into a runoff with Lieutenant Governor David Dewhurst in July, a scenario many believes favors the outsider.

Kurt Bills, a Minnesota congressman who recently won his primary to face off against Sen. Amy Klobuchar, also benefited from an unusually strong Paulite apparatus in that state, one that also took over the states convention. Bills benefited, too, from Paul himself campaigning and fundraising with him, and sending out fundraising emails on his behalf.

An email on Paul’s Bills endorsement from the end of March: “If elected to the U.S. Senate, Kurt will join my son, Rand, in leading the fight for fiscal responsibility, individual liberty, and constitutional principles in Washington, D.C…”

“These congressmen and state officials and new federal officials are lining up with us because we have the soldiers,” said Paul adviser Doug Wead. “If you want to run for office, you have to have them. They are the activist base of the Republican Party now…”

Ron Paul Wins Nevada and Maine, But Mitt Romney Won’t Tell You That

Ron Paul Wins Nevada and Maine, But Mitt Romney Won't Tell You That - Natalie Kolb

In the state of Nevada, an important showdown is about to occur. Nevada was long ago placed by some pundits solidly in the “win” column for Mitt Romney, but this weekend will likely prove those estimates wrong as Nevada Republicans meet to unanimously send Ron Paul supporters as Nevada’s national delegation to Tampa, Florida.

Realizing that Romney will likely suffer the embarrassment of losing the state with the fourth highest Mormon population in the U.S., a threatening letter was recently sent by the allegedly impartial Republican National Convention in an attempt to save face in Nevada. In it, RNC Chief Counsel John R. Phillippe, Jr., seemed to take sides by threatening all of Nevada’s delegates if Nevada Republicans did not show enough support for Mitt Romney.

The story runs deeper – Nevada’s Republican old guard has spent a considerable effort in keeping Ron Paul’s supporters out of the process.

Presidential historian and Paul campaign spokesman Doug Wead points out that Romney’s campaign has no interest in welcoming Paul to the table: “Romney Hawks, now in complete control of his campaign are using strong arm tactics to shut out the Ron Paul forces.”

After a very challenging 2008 election, Paul supporters in Nevada worked hard to take over their state party.

A Republican state delegate who identified himself only as “not Romney and not Paul” commented impartially on the Romney vendetta against Paul: “Less motivated Republicans fall by the wayside between elections. Paul supporters came four years ago and stuck around. They won the party by caring more than others.”

He continued, “Some of them came out of vengeance, some of them came out of concern for the future of the country. Either way, I’m happy to have them and just wish the Romney campaign would accept them too. These Romney people aren’t looking at the long game. They are going to ruin our party just to have their man nominated… Paul supporters are the future of this party…either welcome them or destroy our party…looks to me like Romney would rather see our party destroyed… blacks, Hispanics, the young voters, independents, people who never even got involved before… that Paul attracts a big group – the biggest builder of the Party I’ve seen since Reagan.”

The big tent Republican Party that Reagan built is being splintered by a Romney campaign vendetta.

“Romney might win the nomination, but without Paul and his people, he’ll never win the Presidency and has no chance [winning] Congress,” continued the Clark County delegate.

While many pundits have named Romney the nominee, it sounds like Mitt Romney himself does not actually believe he has this wrapped up. A Paul staffer recently pointed out that, “If Mitt Romney had this thing won, he would be telling his state chairs to make it easy for new people to come into the party. The fact that they are shutting us out is revealing.”

Nevada Republicans and Maine Republicans will meet this weekend to select delegates to the Republican National Convention being held August 27-30 in Tampa, Florida. Contrary to many media estimates, it looks like Paul will come out of both states as the winner.
