Movie industry wants to indoctrinate 1st graders on copyright
The business of content has been in flux for the last 15 years. The old business models are dead or close to dead, but that isn’t stopping the movie studios from trying to hold back progress while they still have the resources to deploy in government.
The MPAA, headed by the former senator Chris Dodd, suffered a sound and brutal defeat last year when the entire online world rose up against the “Stop Online Priracy Act” (SOPA). It was a huge win for Internet freedom, and a crushing blow for a decaying movie industry.
But the studios aren’t dead yet and they still have lots of friends in government. So they are trying different avenues, like this effort to propagandize our children in school.
(From The Verge)
The copyright lobby hasn’t been shy about pressing the anti-piracy case, but a new LA Times report suggests they’re taking the battle to a place it’s never been before: schools. A group called the Center for Copyright Information — backed by copyright groups like the Motion Picture Association of America and the Recording Industry Association of America, among others — is currently developing a curriculum in California to teach elementary schoolers the value of copyright and the dangers of piracy.

Extreme Political Correctness Is Making Public School Education Pure Hell For America’s Children
Political correctness is taking over America, and this is especially true when it comes to our public schools. In the United States today, our public schools are being transformed into “Big Brother” training centers where virtually everything that our children do inside and even outside of school is being monitored, tracked, scrutinized and put into permanent records. As you will read about below, some U.S. public schools are now even monitoring the social media accounts of their students and are ready to pounce on any perceived violation. “Zero tolerance” policies have been implemented at public schools nationwide, and if a student does break “the rules”, it can result in immediate arrest and it can end up haunting them for the rest of their lives. Meanwhile, the content of the “educational instruction” that our children are receiving continues to decline. At this point, public schools in American have become little more than government indoctrination centers, and a steady stream of politically correct propaganda is being endlessly pumped into their heads. Our children may not know how to read, write or do math very well, but they sure do know how to let others do their thinking for them. As a result, most of our public school students are dumb as a rock, and as you will see below a new study has found that U.S. adults “are dumber than the average human”.
Political correctness in our schools has become so pervasive that it has even crept into the playgrounds. For example, footballs and baseballs have been deemed “dangerous” at one middle school in Long Island and have been permanently banned…
As CBS 2’s Jennifer McLogan reported Monday, officials at Weber Middle School in Port Washington are worried that students are getting hurt during recess. Thus, they have instituted a ban on footballs, baseballs, lacrosse balls, or anything that might hurt someone on school grounds.
But if that was the worst our kids had to put up with, they could certainly survive it.
Unfortunately, these days a single politically incorrect mistake by your kid could result in an arrest and being hauled out of school in handcuffs. Just consider the following examples from a recent article by John Whitehead…
These days, it is far too easy to rattle off the outrageous examples of zero tolerance policy run amok in our nation’s schools. A 14-year-old student arrested for texting in class. Three middle school aged boys in Florida thrown to the ground by police officers wielding rifles, who then arrested them for goofing off on the roof of the school. A 9-year-old boy suspended for allegedly pointing a toy at a classmate and saying “bang, bang.” Two 6-year-old students in Maryland suspended for using their fingers as imaginary guns in a schoolyard game of cops and robbers. A 12-year-old New York student hauled out of school in handcuffs for doodling on her desk with an erasable marker. An 8-year-old boy suspended for making his hand into the shape of a gun, in violation of the school district’s policy prohibiting “playing with invisible guns.” A 17-year-old charged with a felony for keeping his tackle box in his car parked on school property, potentially derailing his chances of entering the Air Force. Two seventh graders in Virginia suspended for the rest of the school year for playing with airsoft guns in their own yard before school.
This is the constant danger that is looming over the heads of our public school students today. And what makes this even worse are the “zero tolerance” policies that have been put in place all over the country. It does not matter if your kid is a straight A student that has never done a single thing wrong. If your kid breaks the politically correct rules, the hammer will be brought down on your kid very hard. And according to Whitehead, many schools are now continually monitoring the social media accounts of their students for any “violations”…
Despite a general consensus that zero tolerance policies have failed to have any appreciable impact on student safety, schools have doubled down on these policies to the detriment of children all across the nation. Indeed, the zero tolerance mindset is so entrenched among school administrators all over America that we are now seeing school officials reaching into the personal lives of students to police their behavior at all times. For example, 13,000 students in the Glendale Unified School District in California are now being subjected to constant social media monitoring by school officials. Superintendent Richard Sheehan has hired private firm Geo Listening to analyze the public social media posts of students both off and on campus. Whether on Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, or any other social media platform, students will have their posts and comments analyzed for evidence of “bullying, cyber-bullying, hate and shaming activities, depression, harm and self harm, self hate and suicide, crime, vandalism, substance abuse and truancy.”
Unfortunately, the Glendale program is simply one component of a larger framework in which all student activity is treated as an open book by school administrators. What we are witnessing is a paradigm shift in American society, in which no personal activity is safe from the prying eyes of government agents and their corporate allies. Every decision and action, no matter how innocent, is scrutinized, analyzed, filed, stored, and eventually held against you when those in power feel like it.
You can read the remainder of Whitehead’s outstanding article right here.
So does it make you feel safer knowing that school authorities are “monitoring” your kids at all times?
And while they are sitting in the classroom, the goal is to “shape young minds” to accept the politically correct agenda of the progressives.
If parents only knew what was going on in these classrooms they would be absolutely shocked. For example, one sixth grade class in Arkansas was recently given an assignment to “revise” the Bill of Rights because it has become “outdated”…
Sixth graders at the Bryant School District in Arkansas were given an assignment to “revise” the “outdated” Bill of Rights by deleting and replacing two amendments, using the “War on Terror” and the Patriot Act as a guide.
The worksheet, which is the first Constitutional assignment of the school year, tells students that they will be on a “National Revised Bill of Rights Task Force” who will “prioritize, prune, and add amendments” for a “Revised Bill of Rights.”
“The government of the United States is currently revisiting the Bill of Rights,” the assignment states. “They have determined that it is outdated and may not remain in its current form any longer.”
Is that the kind of stuff that you want your kid to be taught?
Meanwhile, the reading, writing and math skills of U.S. students continue to decline. The following is an excerpt from a recent article by Dave Hodges…
For the most part, the end product our schools are producing is grossly substandard. SAT reading scores have declined to 40 year lows and there is no sign of a rebound. Since reading is the key to all knowledge, we are sending our children to a gunfight with a butter knife. Before the defenders of the public school system raise their voices in opposition, everyone needs to realize that our school children have been under attack for decades. Even the best educators have referred to our public education system as “the deliberate dumbing down of America.”
The results of our foolish national experiment with progressive education are predictable. A brand new international study just released by the U.S. Department of Education revealed that “U.S. adults are dumber than the average human“. The following is how USA Today described the findings of the study…
Americans have been hearing for years that their kids are lagging behind the rest of the developed world in skills. Now it’s the adults’ turn for a reality check.
A first-ever international comparison of the labor force in 23 industrialized nations shows that Americans ages 16 to 65 fall below international averages in basic problem-solving, reading and math skills, with gaps between the more- and less-educated in the USA larger than those of many other countries.
What is the solution?
Well, it would be nice if our public schools would stop doing all of the politically correct garbage and would start focusing on reading, writing and math again.
But we all know that is not going to happen.
So it is up to individual parents to make the choices that are going to be right for their own children. Our kids are not going to be getting a high quality education in the public schools, but they are not going to be able to be successful in life without one.

Amber Alert Down, Michelle’s Site Up
WASHINGTON – The Amber Alert Web site to find missing children has been shut down due to government closures. Meanwhile, Michelle Obama’s fitness Web site is still in operation.
The Amber Alert program was established in 1996 to save American children from kidnapping and murder. The Web site states it is unavailable “due to a lapse in federal funding.”
Michelle Obama’s “Let’s Move” Web site is encouraging children to do jumping jacks.

Pediatrician: We Don’t Know What Anti-Psychotics Do to Children
The Cincinnati Children’s Hospital (CCH) commissioned a report that pointed out how the prescriptions for anti-psychotics given to children of preschool age and older have begun to wane in recent years.
From 2005 to 2009, the amount of psychotropic drugs recommended and administered to children who were males and Caucasian showed a rise in prescriptions from 1994 to 2009.
Tanya Froehlich, pediatrician at CCH and lead author of the study said : “The likelihood of receiving a behavioral diagnosis increased in 2006 to 2009, but this was not accompanied by an increased propensity toward psychotropic prescription. In fact, the likelihood of psychotropic use in 2006-2009 was half that of the 1994-1997 period among those with a behavioral diagnosis.”
Participants in the study were 600 children aged 2 to 5 years. The data was provided by the National Ambulatory and National Hospital Ambulatory Medical Care Surveys (NA-NHAMCS).
Data from 1994 to 2009 showed that as diagnosis of behavioral problems in white male children began to rise, so did the use of anti-psychotic medication.
These drugs included:
• Typical and atypical anti-psychotics
• Mood stabilizers
Froehlich said: “It’s good to get a gauge on what we’re doing with psychotropic medications in this age group, because we really don’t know what these medications do to the developing brain. Furthermore, given the continued use of psychotropic medications in very young children and concerns regarding their effects on the developing brain, future studies on the long-term effects of psychotropic medication use in this age group are essential.”
Shockingly, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) provided documentation that confirmed preschool children received a 2 to 3 fold increase in being prescribed psychotropic drugs between 1991 and 2001.
Mark Olfson, clinical psychiatry professor at Columbia University Medical Center (CUMC) explained: “I think this is an area that has gotten a fair amount of public attention and it could be this is parents and physicians stepping back from a willingness to prescribe these medications. What really is important is that a thorough assessment be conducted before any decision is made about prescribing medications.”
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved a new testing system called Neuropsychiatric EEG-Based Assessment Aid (NEBA) System that measures electrical impulses that neurons give off within the brain to look for evidence of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) within a patient’s neural-net.
It is believed that this new device “can help confirm an ADHD diagnosis” or “other medical or behavioral conditions that produce similar symptoms.”
Proof of what these medications do to developing minds is clear.
• Homicidal ideation
A study published earlier this year claimed that children of minority groups go undiagnosed for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) which results in a lack of psychological treatment.
Apparently, researchers have ignored the fact that Leon Eisenberg, the “father of ADHD” who received the Ruane Prize for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Research award in 2009 for his contribution to research in child psychiatry, stated in his last interview before he passed away in 2012 that “ADHD is a prime example of a fictitious disease.”
Paul Morgan, lead author of the study said : “We’re seeing that the disparities occur as early as kindergarten and then remain and continue until the end of eighth grade. It’s a consistent pattern of what we’re interpreting as comparative under-diagnosis for minority populations.”
Previous studies claimed that African American children were recorded as displaying more tendencies and symptoms, yet would not be diagnosed and receive treatment.
Because of this trend, researchers asked whether or not ADHD was being confused for another condition or simply being written off as socio-economic and/or cultural differences.
Morgan states: “What that suggests in our study is that there are children who are likely deserving of a diagnosis, but who aren’t receiving a diagnosis, which raises the question of a lack of treatment.”

The Link Between Vaccines and Autism – Mark Blaxill
Published by NextNewsNetwork
Gary Franchi interviews Mark Blaxill regarding the link seen between vaccines and autism. Included in the interview is a review of the Canary Party video covering the Vaccine Court and the administrative process that parents must partake in for seeking justice.
“The (DOJ) wants to appear to be an equal-opportunity offender, crushing the hopes and educational futures of children of all races.”
As we have noted before, Eric Holder’s crusade against the voucher program in Louisiana hurts children and parents who want a better life for their children. This is not about racial equity, this is about failing schools not wanting to lose the good kids (with better test scores which determine funding) they have. This is about teachers and administrators keeping their jobs. It’s not about the children. It’s about the adults. It’s not about justice. It’s about appeasing an important voting block. A block which it appears is more important than parents.

Public School Is One Of The Most Dangerous Places You Could Possibly Put Your Children
Would you willingly send your kids into a war zone? No way. Would you willingly send your children into a federal prison? Of course not. So why would you send them to a public school? In America today, kids are being killed on the way to school, at school and on the way home from school. Mass shootings are becoming increasingly common, the influence of gangs in our schools is on the rise and sometimes the biggest threat of danger comes from the teachers and the security officials that are supposed to be there to “protect” our children. But violence is not the only thing for parents to be concerned about when it comes to our public schools. The truth is that public schools in the United States have become government indoctrination centers, and many teachers are constantly looking for opportunities to inject as much propaganda as they possibly can into classroom instruction. After a dozen years of this, many students leave high school virtually brainwashed and nearly incapable of thinking for themselves. This is one of the reasons why so many high school students seem like they are dumb as a rock. Our young people spend most of their young lives in prison camps where they are constantly being told what to think instead of being trained how to think. Why would anyone want to subject their children to that?
When it comes to their children, safety is the number one priority for most parents. They expect that their children will be kept safe going to school, while they are at school, and coming home from school.
Unfortunately, school is becoming an increasingly dangerous place to be for our children. And I am not just talking about the mass shootings that have happened in recent years.
For example, 260 school children have been killed in the city of Chicago alone over the past three years, and now things are about to get even worse. The following is an excerpt from a recent article about the impact that budget cuts and school closings are having on school safety in Chicago…
Most of Chicago’s cuts have taken place in the predominantly poor, African-American and Latino south and west sides, which is also where the majority of the city’s record 506 murders occurred last year.
The city has created 600 “safe passage” routes manned by adults and meant to try to ensure the safety of students crossing gang territories. But in recent weeks at least two people have been killed on those paths. One incident saw four injured and one dead after a shooting in front of a church. Another saw a 54-year-old man shot on the safe passage route that leads to Drake Elementary in Bronzeville.
Lillian Allen, a mother of two students at Drake, said the violence was “nerve-racking”.
Meanwhile, Annie Stoball will on Monday walk her nine-year-old granddaughter Kayla four blocks to her first day at Chicago’s Gresham Elementary, traversing the territory of two different gangs. She felt much safer taking Kayla across the street to Morgan Elementary.
The grandmother said: “This is dangerous. We’re going right into the heart of the gangs.”
In recent years, the number of gang members in the city of Chicago has absolutely exploded. It is estimated that there are now approximately 100,000 gang members living in the city, and not even the “safe passage” routes for school children are safe now…
The eyes of the city were on Chicago Public Schools “Safe Passage” routes Monday morning as a 28-year-old man was shot along one of the routes and a 14-year-old boy was shot to death near another one, the day before school starts.
The 14-year-old boy was shot and killed within a block of a welcoming elementary school, Melody Stem School , 3937 W. Wilcox. It’s at least the third fatal shooting along or near a Safe Passage route since mid-August.
In other areas of the country, gang activity is not a major problem yet, but concern about school violence is still a huge issue.
The state of Connecticut has one of the highest per capita incomes in the entire country, but the mass shooting that took place at Sandy Hook Elementary School less than a year ago has caused schools all over the state to adopt extreme security measures…
In Enfield, each of the town’s 14 public and parochial schools will have an armed guard at the door when they open for the year Sept. 3. Enfield Police Chief Carl Sferrazza said he believes armed guards are the best deterrent for an “active shooter” like Adam Lanza in Newtown.
“These people are homicidal and suicidal individuals. Their intent and their planning is all geared toward killing as many people as they possibly can,” Sferrazza said.
All Glastonbury schools also will have guards at the doors when school starts Aug. 29. The high school and Smith Middle School already had guards stationed there, and the town added seven additional guards at a cost of $315,000 for the school year.
Other school districts have chosen to add cameras, door buzzers, card-swipe entry systems or other, less drastic, security measures.
But sometimes it is actually the “security officials” that end up brutalizing the kids. The following are just a couple of examples of the kinds of things that happen in public schools in America every single day…
*A security thug at one school in California actually fractured the arm of one 16-year-old girl because she left some crumbs on the floor after cleaning up some cake that she had spilled.
*In Allentown, Pennsylvania a 14-year-old girl was tasered in the groin area by a school security thug even though she had put up her hands in the air to surrender to him.
And if your kid does something to be considered a “security threat”, he or she could be taken out of school in handcuffs and hauled off to prison or to a mental institution. The following examples are from one of my previous articles…
#1 At an elementary school in Baltimore recently, three nine-year-old girls and an eight-year-old boy were arrested for fighting and marched out of their elementary school in handcuffs. The police department defended handcuffing those kids….
“It’s our policy, regardless of the age, when a suspect is arrested by police, they’re handcuffed. And the reason is just not for the suspect’s safety but also for officers’ safety,” Det. Jeremy Silbert of the Baltimore City Police Department said.
#2 In New Haven, Connecticut a 10-year-old boy was actually arrested by police for giving another student “a wedgie” on a school bus.
#3 Just last year, a 5-year-old boy at a public school in Stockton, California was arrested by police and handcuffed with zip ties because he was committing “battery on a police officer“.
How much damage can a 5-year-old kid really do to a police officer?
The boy was ultimately sent to a hospital and forced to undergo a psychiatric evaluation.
#4 A 6-year-old girl down in Florida was “throwing objects, hitting administration personnel and screaming uncontrollably” so police handcuffed the 40 pound little girl and shipped her off to a mental institution for evaluation.
#5 In San Mateo, California a few months ago a 7-year-old special education student was blasted in the face with pepper spray because he would not quit climbing on the furniture. Police were then able to subdue the boy and he was “committed for a psychiatric evaluation”.
#6 Down in Florida, an 11-year-old student was arrested by police, thrown in jail and charged with a third-degree felony for bringing a plastic butter knife to school.
#7 In Texas, a 12-year-old girl was recently arrested by police for spraying two bursts of perfume on her neck. She was formally charged with a misdemeanor.
#8 A 13-year-old boy at a public school in Albuquerque, New Mexico was recently arrested by police for burping in class. The police marched him out of school and hauled him over to a juvenile detention center.
#9 Back in 2010, a 12-year-old girl at a school in Forest Hills, New York wrote “I love my friends Abby and Faith” on her desk. The police were called out and she was marched out of her school in handcuffs in front of all her friends.
#10 A teenage couple down in Houston, Texas poured milk on each other during a squabble while they were breaking up a while back. Instead of being sent to see the principal, they were arrested by police and sent to court.
Of course these days virtually no place is safe for young children. If you take your eyes off of them for even a moment they could be taken by predators.
For instance, just check out what just happened at a Best Buy down in Florida…
Time Magazine Promotes A Childless Lifestyle As The Path To The Good Life For U.S. Couples
There is a relentless assault on the family in America today unlike anything that we have ever seen before. For decades, the entertainment industry and the mainstream media have been portraying marriage as the time “when your fun is over” and they have been encouraging young adults to put off marriage for as long as possible. So now the marriage rate in the United States is at a record low and the average age for a first marriage is at a record high. Meanwhile, the entertainment industry and the mainstream media have been heavily promoting the philosophy that having fewer children is better, and they have been teaching our young people that abortion is a really good option if an unwanted pregnancy comes along. The whole idea is that children are going to keep you from enjoying the kind of life that you really deserve to have.
This philosophy is taken even further in a new Time Magazine article. The article is entitled “The Childfree Life: When having it all means not having children“, and it openly promotes a “childless lifestyle” as the path to the good life for young U.S. couples. The following is how the article begins…
One evening when she was 14 years old, Laura Scott was washing dishes in the kitchen with her mother when she decided she didn’t want to have a child. At 26, Scott got married and waited for her mind to change. “It never happened,” she says. “And I realized I was going to be fine.” Now 50, Scott is more than fine: she’s fulfilled. And she’s not alone. The birthrate in the U.S. is the lowest in recorded American history. From 2007 to 2011, the most recent year for which there’s data, the fertility rate declined 9%. A 2010 Pew Research report showed that childlessness has risen across all racial and ethnic groups, adding up to about 1 in 5 American women who end their childbearing years maternity-free, compared with 1 in 10 in the 1970s.
The article goes on to point out that the average cost of raising a child born in 2011 to adulthood will be approximately $234,900, and it suggests that women should think long and hard before making such a commitment.
Well, what is a woman to do if she gets pregnant and she decides that raising that child will ruin her life?
According to the entertainment industry and the mainstream media, abortion is a very simple answer to that problem.
In America today, the vast majority of abortions are done for the sake of convenience. Abortion is essentially a human sacrifice to our own selfishness, and there are millions upon millions of Americans that will go to any lengths to justify the murder of their own children.
In fact, it has gotten so bad that now many liberal thinkers are even postulating that life may not even begin at birth unless parents decide that it does.
Yes, that sounds absolutely insane, but that is apparently what MSNBC host Melissa Harris-Perry believes…
MSNBC’s Melissa Harris-Perry thinks she has the answer to the ages old question of just when life begins. Her answer: life begins whenever parents “decide” it does.
Practically since the beginning of the national abortion debate the most fought over question between the pro-abortion and pro-life sides is just when does life begin? In an attempt to avoid the arbitrary, most try to utilize some sort of scientific reasoning to decide when life is life. The pro-life side says life begins as soon as the egg is fertilized while the pro-abortion side often contends that life isn’t life until it is self-sustaining, meaning a fetus isn’t “life” until it can survive outside the womb.
But here comes extreme left-winger Harris-Perry to offer the most arbitrary criteria of all: whenever anyone feels like life begins, then that is “life.”
“When does life begin? I submit the answer depends an awful lot on the feeling of the parents. A powerful feeling–but not science,” Harris-Perry said on her July 21 MSNBC show.
As a result of our national obsession with selfishness, our population growth has now fallen below replacement rate. The following is from a recent article by Aaron Dykes and Melissa Melton…
Meanwhile most Western nations are now facing a “baby bust,” with population growth falling well below the replacement rate. The global fertility rate has fallen to 2.42 births in 2011 numbers (with 2.1 needed for statistical replacement, or, an equilibrium of human births). The United States, like other Western nations, has already fallen below replacement rate, with a population growth rate of 0.9% and falling, insufficient for continuity, which in turn affects the possibilities for economic growth.
Today we look around and wonder where we will get the trillions of dollars of retirement benefits that we have promised to the Baby Boomers.
Well, if we had not aborted more than 50 million babies since Roe v. Wade was decided, perhaps we would have enough workers to pay the bills.
And as I mentioned earlier in this article, our obsession with selfishness has also resulted in the U.S. marriage rate dropping to an all-time record low…
The marriage rate has fluctuated in the past, with dips in the 1930s and 1960s, but it has been in steady decline since the 1970s. Now, researchers report that the marriage rate has dropped to a new low of 31.1, meaning there are about 31 marriages in the U.S. for every 1,000 unmarried women, researchers found. In 1950, that number was 90.2. In 1920, it was 92.3.
In America today, young men and young women are both taught that they need to put off marriage until their educations are done and their careers have started.
So instead of entering into committed relationships at a young age like previous generations did, our young people are being encouraged to embrace “the hookup culture”. The following is an excerpt from a recent article by Mona Charen entitled “The New Brainwashing: Women Like Hookups“…

Homeschooling: The Future of Liberty
A common feature of authoritarian regimes is the criminalization of alternatives to government-controlled education. Dictators recognize the danger that free thought poses to their rule, and few things promote the thinking of “unapproved” thoughts like an education controlled by parents instead of the state. That is why the National Socialist (Nazi) government of Germany outlawed homeschooling in 1938.
Sadly, these Nazi-era restrictions on parental rights remain the law in Germany, leaving parents who wish greater control over their children’s education without options. That is why in 2006 Uwe and Hannalore Romeike, a German couple who wanted to homeschool their three children for religious reasons, sought asylum in the United States. Immigration judge Lawrence Burman upheld their application for asylum, recognizing that the freedom of parents to homeschool was a “basic human right.”
Unfortunately, the current US administration does not see it that way, and has announced that it is appealing Judge Burman’s decision. If the administration is successful, the Romeikes could be sent back to Germany where they will be forced to send their children to schools whose teaching violates their religious beliefs. If they refuse, they face huge fines, jail time, or even the loss of custody of their children!
The Administration’s appeal claims that the federal government has the constitutional authority to ban homeschooling in all fifty states. The truth is, the Constitution gives the federal government no power to control any aspect of education. Furthermore, parents who, like the Romeikes, have a religious motivation for homeschooling should be protected by the free exercise clause of the First Amendment.
The federal government’s hostility to homeschooling is shared by officials at all levels of government. Despite the movement’s success in legalizing homeschooling in every state, many families are still subjected to harassment by local officials. The harassment ranges from “home visits” by child protective agencies to criminal prosecution for violating truancy laws.
Every American who values liberty should support the homeschoolers’ cause. If the government can usurp parental authority over something as fundamental as the education of their children, there is almost no area of parenthood off limits to government interference.
Homeschooling has proven to be an effective means of education. We are all familiar with the remarkable academic achievements, including in national spelling bees and other competitions, by homeshcooled children. In addition, homeschooled students generally fare better than their public school educated peers on all measures of academic performance.
It makes sense that children do better when their education is controlled by those who know their unique needs best, rather than by a federal bureaucrat. A strong homeschooling movement may also improve other forms of education. If competition improves goods and services in other areas of life, why wouldn’t competition improve education? A large and growing homeschooling movement could inspire public and private schools to innovate and improve.
When the government interferes with a parent’s ability to choose the type of education that is best for their child, it is acting immorally and in manner inconsistent with a free society. A government that infringes on the rights of homeschooling will eventually infringe on the rights of all parents. Homeschooled children are more likely to embrace the philosophy of freedom, and to join the efforts to restore liberty. In fact, I would not be surprised if the future leaders of the liberty movement where homeschooled.
I believe so strongly in the homeschooling movement that I have just announced my own curriculum for homeschooling families. Please visit this revolutionary new project at http://www.ronpaulcurriculum.com.

MSNBC Cadre Member: Your Kids — Like Your Money and Guns — Belong to the “Community”
Whenever a progressive refers to “investments,” he or she is referring to confiscation of private wealth.
Whenever a progressive invokes the “community,” that term refers to a state-engineered collective in which the individual has no rights.
Whenever a collectivist refers to “public education,” that phrase is shorthand for the process of destroying a child’s developing sense of self-ownership and indoctrinating them in the notion that they are the property of the “community.” This process is also known as “socialization,” which is the indefinable value-added element that supposedly makes “public education” superior to homeschooling.
Whenever an advocate of “public education” refers to “our children,” conscientious parents should take a quick inventory of their arsenals.
Melissa Harris-Perry, a slogan-spewing news reader for the Stalinist media outlet called MSNBC, ran the table of these collectivist nostrums in a recent installment in the network’s “Lean Forward” ad campaign. The “Lean Forward” spots feature various MSNBC luminaries holding forth like Communist Party functionary exhorting the cadres at a “struggle session” in the Chinese Cultural Revolution.
Harris-Perry is a collectivist of such passionate conviction that she regards opposition to Obama’s radical centralization of power to be a species of sedition. She considers private firearms to be a pestilence, but embraces a vision of social engineering that would require a great amount of gun-related violence by state functionaries. Although she is a credentialed academic, she has the odd and annoying habit, so common among adolescents, of ending every statement with a vocal inflection that suggests a question. In her “Lean Forward” ad, she uncorked this specimen of unfiltered collectivist cant:
“We have never invested as much in public education, because we’ve always had a sort of private notion of children – your kid is yours, and totally your responsibility. We haven’t had a very collective notion of, `These are our children.’ So part of it is that we have to break through our kind of private idea that kids belong to their parents, or kids belong to families, and recognize that kids belong to whole communities. Once it’s everybody’s responsibility, and not just the household’s, then we start making better investments.”
Like many others of her ideological persuasion, Harris-Perry is a stranger to concision. Someone who represented a slightly different strain of collectivism – albeit not as different as Harris-Perry would insist – stated the matter much more tidily almost exactly eighty years ago:
“When an opponent declares, `I will not come over to your side,’ I calmly say: `Your child belongs to us already…. What are you? You will pass on. Your descendants, however, now stand in this new camp. In a short time they will know nothing else but this new community.”
Those words were spoken on November 6, 1933 by the community-organizing, civilian-disarming, socialized medicine-promoting, government stimulus-peddling, unitary executive who presided over Germany’s National Socialist government. When Harris-Perry and her comrades demand that we “Lean Forward,” that’s the direction they have in mind.
