Ron Paul On American Exceptionalism
Ron Paul has his own take on what it means to be ‘exceptional’… it seems “inspire”, and ‘lead by example’ is preferable to ‘threaten’ and ‘attack’…

Monsanto has made a pretty penny over the last several decades thanks to its top-selling herbicide, Roundup, and cash crops genetically modified to withstand heavy doses of the chemical, such as Roundup Ready corn, soy, and cotton. Meanwhile, Roundup’s key ingredient glyphosate has ravaged the earth, our food chain, and our bodies, and is even causing infertility among the masses. Its effects haven’t gone unnoticed.
Purdue University professor emeritus Dr. Don Huber addressed the dangers of glyphosate to American and European officials in 2011. His concerns centered on an electron microscopic pathogen which “appears to significantly impact the health of plants, animals, and probably human beings.” In a letter to US Department of Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack, Huber added that preliminary experiments have reproduced the pathogen’s link to miscarriages.
Vilsack purportedly received Huber’s letter and, despite the available mountain of evidence just one click away, encouraged of Huber “submission of any data or studies in support of his concerns.” Apparently, none of the scientific, published evidence of glyphosate-induced infertility, sterility, birth defects, Parkinson’s, obesity, superweeds, and water pollution were convincing enough to keep the USDA from snuggling down next to Monsanto on a bed of dirty money just 11 days later. Despite Huber’s explicit pleas to delay deregulation of Roundup Ready crops—which would be, in his words, “a calamity”—the USDA went through with deregulation.
This was neither the first nor would it be the last hand members of the government would join with dirty industries to the detriment of their own citizenry. Reuters reports on the myriad concerns raised by numerous members of the scientific and medical community, yet it is only in 2015 that the Environmental Protection Agency promises results for their research into the possible dangers of glyphosate and what, if any, role government should play in it.
Seeing as the government has been front and center in support of Monsanto’s environmentally disastrous antics, we hope to see matched enthusiasm in remedial measures for the environment and its people.

TSA is introducing the new full body scanner system to the American airports. The scanners will be capable of detecting every tiny trace of any substance of your body to find gunpowder or any bomb making materials. However the devices can also trace the level of adrenaline in the body. RT’s Kristine Frazao has more on the subject.

The European Union held a summit meeting last week, prompting a significant rally in both European and American markets at the perception of progress in controlling the Euro meltdown. However, it’s difficult for a sober analyst to find anything of long-term significance coming out of the summit. Spain got a vague commitment to pump bailout money directly into its banks, instead of handing the Spanish government a pile of rescue money with “austerity” strings attached, but no one is terribly clear about where this bank bailout money will be coming from.
Post-summit euphoria has already begun to fade, and it fades nowhere more swiftly than in the nation that glumly supposes it knows damn well where the bailout money will be coming from: Germany. It is increasingly clear that the entire Eurozone is powered by a long extension cord, patched here and there with austerity duct tape, running all the way to Berlin.
(THE NEW AMERICAN) The Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) proposes that the U.S. Army be used to plan, command, and carry out (with the help of civilian law enforcement) domestic police missions. So says a story appearing in the May/June issue of the influential organization’s official journal,Foreign Affairs. The article lacks a single reference to the Posse Comitatus Act, which prohibits such actions.
In an article penned by Chief of Staff of the U.S. Army, General Raymond T. Odierno, the CFR would see the Army used to address “challenges in the United States itself” in order to keep the homeland safe from domestic disasters, including terrorist attacks. Odierno writes:
Where appropriate we will also dedicate active-duty forces, especially those with niche skills and equipment, to provide civilian officials with a robust set of reliable and rapid response options.

The message of liberty has proven to be stronger than “9-9-9,” “Yes We Can,” or any other empty campaign rhetoric that has been incessantly repeated in today’s election cycle. Unlike the others that merely pander to our base instincts of “Hope and Change” or our desire to have a Dr. Evil-style Moon base, there is substance to the liberty message.
Congressman Ron Paul (R-Texas) has been delivering the same message of peace, sound money, and limited government for over 40 years. His entire political career has been devoted to the preservation of liberty and truth.
As George Orwell rightly said, “During times of universal deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act.” Unfortunately, we are in living under a state apparatus that is built on lies. Bailouts, wars, and other state-sanctioned interventions are always necessary to keep us safe from the evil economy or the evil bogeymen who reside in evil caves.
A rather significant characteristic of the message is the way it has spread: through the internet, alternative media, and grassroots movements like the Dec. 17, 2007, Tea Party money bomb that raised over $6 million in one day. That day marked the beginning of the modern day Tea Party, before it was co-opted by Fox News demagogues like Sean Hannity and other so-called conservatives in the mainstream media. The alternative media has propelled this revolution to the front lines of political discourse in this country. Thousands of students come to see Ron Paul speak on a regular basis. Paul supporters, both young and old, male and female, become students of Austrian economics and the Constitution.
An entire generation of Americans have become politically aware thanks to Paul’s efforts.
So, why has the mainstream media missed out on this intellectual, ideologically positive revolution?
Today, I am going to do something that I have never done: I am going to devote virtually my entire column to posting another man’s words. That man is the man who should be President of the United States: Congressman Ron Paul of Texas. The following is a written transcript of a speech Dr. Paul gave on the floor of the US House of Representatives back in 2007. Had Congressman Paul been elected President in 2008, the country would be four years into the greatest economic, political, and, yes, spiritual recovery in the history of America. As it is, the US is on the brink of totalitarianism and economic ruin. And you can mark it down, four years from now it won’t matter to a tinker’s dam whether Barack Obama or Mitt Romney was elected President this November. Neither man has the remotest understanding of America’s real problems nor the courage and backbone to do anything about it if they did understand.
Read the following. This is a man who understands the Constitution. This is a man who understands sound economic principles. This is a man who understands liberty and freedom. This is a man who has the guts to tell the truth. This is a man who has put his life and career on the line for the principles of liberty for more than two decades. This is a man who has returned every dollar that he has been paid as a US congressman to the taxpayers. This is the man who should be President of the United States.
[Ron Paul’s speech begins here] For some, patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel. For others, it means dissent against a government’s abuse of the people’s rights.
I have never met a politician in Washington or any American, for that matter, who chose to be called unpatriotic. Nor have I met anyone who did not believe he wholeheartedly supported our troops, wherever they may be.
I hope all take the opportunity to read the full story above!

Once upon a time, anyone that was relatively competent and willing to work hard could go out and easily get a job that would enable that person to financially support a family. Unfortunately, that is simply no longer true anymore. Well paying “middle income jobs” are being rapidly replaced with “low income jobs” and part-time jobs. As the economy crumbles, it is becoming increasingly difficult for the typical American worker to survive from month to month. The number of companies that provide benefits such as health insurance has fallen steadily over the past ten years, and paychecks have not been keeping up with the rising prices of food and gas. Average American families are seeing their budgets squeezed like never before, and many of them are going into huge amounts of debt in order to make up the difference. Sadly, this is a problem that has developed over an extended period of time and that is not going to be reversed overnight. Over the past four decades, the ratio of wages and salaries to GDP in America has fallen dramatically. The typical American worker is not as valued as much as he or she used to be, and if current trends continue even more of us will be working part-time jobs or “low income jobs” in the years ahead.
In America today there is a great deal of focus on the unemployed, but there are also millions upon millions of Americans that are working part-time jobs because that is all that they can find.
It can be absolutely soul crushing to go all the way through school getting good grades, spend a ton of money on an education, and then work for 8 bucks an hour doing meaningless work for some predator corporation that simply does not care about how talented you are.
Today, an astounding 48 percent of all Americans are considered to be either “low income” or are living in poverty.
According to the New York Times, approximately 100 million Americans are either living in poverty or in “the fretful zone just above it”.
A lot of those people actually do have jobs. Unfortunately, a part-time job that pays 8 or 9 dollars an hour just will not get you anywhere close to getting over the poverty line.
This is not the way that the U.S. economy used to work. Back in the old days, good paying jobs that would allow you to live “the American Dream” were plentiful.
But now millions upon millions of Americans are scrambling for anything that they can get. According to a recent survey conducted by Gallup, the percentage of Americans that are working part-time jobs but that would like full-time jobs is now higher than it has been at any other time in the last two years.
In this economy, a good paying full-time job is incredibly precious. If you still have one, you should consider yourself to be very fortunate.
Check out the following chart. It is a chart that shows the level of wages and salaries as a percentage of GDP in the United States since the late 1940s. As you can see, the slice of the pie being taken home by American workers has been dropping like a rock since about 1970….
Is that a clear trend or what?
And it is going to continue year after year as long as we continue to pursue the same foolish economic policies.
As our politicians continue to allow millions of American jobs to be shipped overseas, competition for the jobs that remain inside this country is becoming extremely intense.
As you read this, there are hordes of hard working American workers sitting at home staring at their televisions as they wonder why nobody will hire them.
Right now, if you gathered together all of the unemployed people in the United States, they would constitute the 68th largest country in the world.
That is absolutely insane.
But even if you do have a job that does not mean that you are in good shape. The percentage of “low income jobs” just continues to climb. Back in 1980, less than 30% of all jobs in the United States were low income jobs. Today, more than 40% of all jobs in the United States are low income jobs.
Many Americans work as hard as they can and still find that they must turn to the government for financial assistance. According to author Paul Osterman, about 20 percent of all U.S. adults are currently working jobs that pay poverty-level wages.
And that number is just going to keep climbing unless we change what we are doing as a nation.
