If the IRS scandal wasn’t enough to convince you that bloated, corrupt, bureaucratic government institutions pose a greater threat to our freedoms than any terrorist attack ever could, this story should settle it once and for all. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is not only wasteful, power hungry, and entirely unnecessary, it is also rapidly transforming itself into the Vampire Squid of government. In light of the fact that pretty much every terrorist plot the U.S. government has “thwarted” since 9/11 has been either FBI or CIA hatched schemes rooted in entrapment, the DHS has a lot of spare time on its hands to hunt frightening acts of “domestic terrorism.” You know, like fake Gucci bags. This story is beyond unacceptable. From WIVB Channel 4 News:
AMHERST, N.Y. (WIVB) – Federal agents swept through two shopping malls Monday, seizing fake merchandise and shutting down stores.
The Department of Homeland Security spearheaded the investigation that targeted mostly kiosks in the Walden Galleria and Boulevard Mall. Agents hauled bags and boxes out of the Boulevard Mall after stripping three kiosks of their merchandise.
Jim Spero, Special Agent-in-Charge of the Buffalo office of Homeland Security, says the sale of counterfeit goods – in Buffalo and beyond – poses a major security threat.
Oh please. Get over yourself Jim.
“When you purchase counterfeit goods, when you sell counterfeit goods, you don’t know who you’re dealing with. You don’t know what kind of criminal activity you’re supporting,” Spero said. “It’s actually organized crime that is behind the distribution of these goods. It could be terrorists as well.”
9/11 was bad, but the government created “war on terror” and all that has come with it, is far, far worse.

RT.com offers up the story below…
Chinese man blows life savings on ark to escape Apocalypse
Lu Zhengai is so scared by the Mayan apocalypse, that’s he’s spent all his money – $160,000 – on building his very own Noah’s Ark.
The barely sea worthy boat, which he claims will save him and his family when flood waters destroy his house, was designed by Lu himself, measures 65 feet and will weigh 80 tons when finished, according to Chinese media.
Land lubber Lu, who lives in the Xinjiang Uyghur autonomous region of China – thousands of miles from the sea, began building the boat out of fear for the “doomsday” floods, predicted by the Maya calendar for December 21, 2012.
“I’m afraid that when the end of the world comes in 2012, flood waters will destroy my house, so I took my life savings and invested in the construction of this boat. When the time comes everyone can take refuge in it,” he told the Chinese News Service.
But Lu is not alone, in August the New York Daily News reported that another Chinese man spent two years creating a very different Noah’s Ark – a tough, buoyant yellow ball, perhaps better designed to cope with tsunamis and giant ocean swells than Lu’s flat bottomed barge.

How does it make you feel when you see people fight like animals – over something like a new iPhone or Samsung mobile phone?
You can tell the health of the tree by the quality of its fruits. America, as is evidenced by this week’s annual materialistic ritual known as ‘Black Friday’, has produced this particularly rotten fruit, consistently. It’s getting way too predictable for our liking.
The name “Black” joined with Friday, in itself, is worth looking at – in all its Satanic symbolism.
Why do they try to market this event as some sort of national holiday and call it “Black”?
It all started with the Cabbage Patch Doll uprisings back in the 1980′s. It seemed like a fluke at the time. But the trend has raged on, and on. An epic battle for a load of cheap plastic made in China and Vietnam, mostly by women and children on a dollar a day.
Quite simply, it’s a victory for worldly goods, over humanity, as people worship brands like gods for sale. The devil’s handiwork, no less.
In reality, Black Friday is nothing more than a collective con – a nonevent, made to appear as an event.
American wage slaves who have witnessed such riots like in the videos below, should know by now that America’s once coveted status as the progressive world’s cultural leader – more and more it’s looking like ‘American exceptionalism’ could be the stuff of 20th century history already.
Those who have taken part in the Black Friday ritual should also know that their rulers are indeed laughing at them right now – as they watch their social engineering master plan come to fruition – reduced to a shallow pulp of mindless consumerism currently in the process of eating itself.
The remaining, mentally challenged chattering classes, will also watch these ugly scenes and then sit and argue whether Black Friday riots are the result of an Obama or Romney victory, as if. This level of sub-intelligence is what killed American democracy – another victory for the elite.
On a foreign policy note, if you are an Arab watching these scenes below, you might want to ask yourself, if this is what Barak Obama and Hillary Clinton were talking about when they waxed lyrical during your Arab Spring (that wasn’t) about the virtues of exporting ”American values of freedom and democracy”?
Imagine when the dollar collapses – how ugly would that look. Empty supermarket shelves. How would Americans treat each other then?
It’s become a pathetic tradition, in what is way past the point of national embarrassment, but it’s not – instead, they promote it…
Watch as it gets even uglier…

The possibility of going to war is laughable? Only to those that know if there is a confirmed strategy.
When to attack, end of this year, beginning of next, still laughable? Only to those that know there is a confirmed schedule of events.
Highlighting a suggestion that it would be beneficial for the US to be attacked to bring about unity of support to attack Iran? Hillary Clinton said” There are those who are saying the best thing that could happen to us is to be attacked by somebody. You know, just bring it on.” This even raised a chuckle and enthusiasm from Clinton. Finding something positive in the consideration of the US being attacked could only come from a warmongering neocon, who in this case is representing Israel before the lives of those here in the US.
A pretext for another false flag attack? You thoughts?

In a stunning move, on March 16, 2012, Barack Obama signed an Executive Order stating that the President and his specifically designated Secretaries now have the authority to commandeer all domestic U.S. resources including food and water. The EO also states that the President and his Secretaries have the authority to seize all transportation, energy, and infrastructure inside the United States as well as forcibly induct/draft American citizens into the military. The EO also contains a vague reference in regards to harnessing American citizens to fulfill “labor requirements” for the purposes of national defense.
Not only that, but the authority claimed inside the EO does not only apply to National Emergencies and times of war. It also applies in peacetime.
The National Defense Resources Preparedness Executive Order exploits the “authority” granted to the President in the Defense Production Act of 1950 in order to assert that virtually every means of human survival is now available for confiscation and control by the President via his and his Secretaries’ whim.
The unconstitutionality of the overwhelming majority of Executive Orders is well established, as well as the illegality of denying citizens their basic Constitutional and human rights, even in the event of a legitimate national emergency. Likewise, it should also be pointed out that, like Obama’s recent Libyan adventure and the foregone conclusion of a Syrian intervention, there is no mention of Congress beyond a minor role of keeping the allegedly co-equal branch of government informed on contextually meaningless developments.
As was mentioned above, the scope of the EO is virtually all-encompassing. For instance, in “Section 201 – Priorities and Allocations Authorities,” the EO explains that the authority for the actions described in the opening paragraph rests with the President but is now delegated to the various Secretaries of the U.S. Federal Government. The list of delegations and the responsibility of the Secretaries as provided in this section are as follows:
Court Says MF Global Executives Still GET Bonuses for 2011! WTF? They Stole people’s money and they are getting Bonuses?!
WOW the news is not stopping this morning 3/9/12 that is just mind boggling at how the people are getting raped by the banks!
It has been revealed that MF Global executives are still going to get bonuses of millions of dollars for 2011!
I am at a loss of words of what is happening and how those who have defrauded the world and have out right stolen money from the people and they are not just not being prosecuted for the stealing and out right fraud but they are being given money for it!
You just can’t make this stuff up! How is this even possible? How is it a court is giving bonuses to those who stole billions directly from people’s personal accounts?
Portion from link:
The payments could vary in size depending on progress with the estate and likely would be paid in batches throughout 2012, a person familiar with the matter said. The total payouts are expected to be smaller than bonuses received by the same executives before MF Global sank amid panic over the big bets made on European sovereign debt under Jon Corzine, the company’s former chairman and chief executive. He resigned in November.
For example, Bradley Abelow, president and chief operating officer at MF Global, got a salary of $829,545 and a bonus of $1.25m for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2011, according to a securities filing. His total compensation was $7.6m. After the Chapter 11 filing, Abelow agreed to cut his annual salary to $60,000, another securities filing shows.
The other high-ranking MF Global executives who could collect bonuses under Freeh’s plan are Henri Steenkamp, the company’s chief financial officer, and Laurie Ferber, general counsel, people familiar with the matter said.
All I can ask is…. What Will be the trigger for the people to wake up? The way it is going, I can’t imagine it will take too much more. We the people need to get the real news to those who have refused to see it up to this point, somehow.
This morning all I can keep saying is WTF! when I have read how the banks are moving in for the final kill of everyone’s money.
There’s some disturbing rhetoric flying around in the debate over the National Defense Authorization Act, which among other things contains passages that a) officially codify the already-accepted practice of indefinite detention of “terrorist” suspects, and b) transfer the responsibility for such detentions exclusively to the military.
The fact that there’s been only some muted public uproar about this provision (which, disturbingly enough, is the creature of Wall Street anti-corruption good guy Carl Levin, along with John McCain) is mildly surprising, given what’s been going on with the Occupy movement. Protesters in fact should be keenly interested in the potential applications of this provision, which essentially gives the executive branch unlimited powers to indefinitely detain terror suspects without trial.
The really galling thing is that this act specifically envisions American citizens falling under the authority of the bill. One of its supporters, the dependably-unlikeable Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, bragged that the law “basically says … for the first time that the homeland is part of the battlefield” and that people can be jailed without trial, be they “American citizen or not.” New Hampshire Republican Kelly Ayotte reiterated that “America is part of the battlefield.”
Officially speaking, of course, the bill only pertains to:
“… a person who was a part of or substantially supported al-Qaeda, the Taliban, or associated forces that are engaged in hostilities against the United States or its coalition partners.”
As Glenn Greenwald notes, the key passages here are “substantially supported” and “associated forces.” The Obama administration and various courts have already expanded their definition of terrorism to include groups with no connection to 9/11 (i.e. certain belligerents in Yemen and Somalia) and to individuals who are not members of the target terror groups, but merely provided “substantial support.”
The definitions, then, are, for the authorities, conveniently fungible. They may use indefinite detention against anyone who “substantially supports” terror against the United States, and it looks an awful lot like they have leeway in defining not only what constitutes “substantial” and “support,” but even what “terror” is. Is a terrorist under this law necessarily a member of al-Qaeda or the Taliban? Or is it merely someone who is “engaged in hostilities against the United States”?
Here’s where I think we’re in very dangerous territory. We have two very different but similarly large protest movements going on right now in the Tea Party and the Occupy Movement. What if one of them is linked to a violent act? What if a bomb goes off in a police station in Oakland, or an IRS office in Texas? What if the FBI then linked those acts to Occupy or the Tea Party?
You can see where this is going. When protesters on the left first started flipping out about George Bush’s indefinite detention and rendition policies, most people thought the idea that these practices might someday be used against ordinary Americans was merely an academic concern, something theoretical.
But it’s real now. If these laws are passed, we would be forced to rely upon the discretion of a demonstrably corrupt and consistently idiotic government to not use these awful powers to strike back at legitimate domestic unrest.
Right now, the Senate is openly taking aim at the rights of American citizens under the guise of an argument that anyone who supports al-Qaeda has no rights. But if you pay close attention, you’ll notice the law’s supporters here and there conveniently leaving out those caveats about “anyone who supports al-Qaeda.” For instance, here’s Lindsey Graham again:
“If you’re an American citizen and you betray your country, you’re not going to be given a lawyer … I believe our military should be deeply involved in fighting these guys at home or abroad.”
As Greenwald points out, this idea – that an American who commits treason can be detained without due process – is in direct defiance of Article III, Section III of the Constitution, which reads:
“No Person shall be convicted of Treason unless on the Testimony of two Witnesses to the same overt Act, or on Confession in open Court.”
This effort to eat away at the rights of the accused was originally gradual, but to me it looks like that process is accelerating. It began in the Bush years with a nebulous description of terrorist sedition that may or may not have included links to Sunni extremist groups in places like Afghanistan and Pakistan.
A pretty direct hit from ThinkProgress , if you ask me. Here’s Newt Gingrich on March 7, on what he would do in Libya.
VAN SUSTEREN: What would you do about Libya?
GINGRICH: Exercise a no-fly zone this evening, communicate to the Libyan military that Gadhafi was gone and that the sooner they switch sides, the more like they were to survive, provided help to the rebels to replace him. I mean, the idea that we’re confused about a man who has been an anti-American dictator since 1969 just tells you how inept this administration is. They were very quick to jump on Mubarak, who was their ally for 30 years, and they were confused about getting rid of Gadhafi. This is a moment to get rid of him. Do it. Get it over with.
VAN SUSTEREN: And why do you think — you say you think it’s ineptitude is why the pause or there’s different political…
VAN SUSTEREN: … or different diplomacy?
GINGRICH: I think the most generous comment would be ineptitude. It’s also an ideological problem. The United States doesn’t need anybody’s permission. We don’t need to have NATO, who frankly, won’t bring much to the fight. We don’t need to have the United Nations. All we have to say is that we think that slaughtering your own citizens is unacceptable and that we’re intervening. And we don’t have to send troops. All we have to do is suppress his air force, which we could do in minutes. And then we have to say publicly that he is gone, that the military should switch sides now, and we should help the rebels. And if that means getting them weapons or whatever it means, the fact that there’s no more Libyan air power and the fact that the United States has publicly come out for decisively replacing him, I suspect the military will dump him.
Here’s Newt Gingrich from March 23.
GINGRICH: The standard [Obama] has fallen back to of humanitarian intervention could apply to Sudan, to North Korea, to Zimbabwe, to Syria this week, to Yemen, to Bahrain. This isn’t a serious standard. This is a public relations conversation.
LAUER: Do you think Moammar Qaddafi has to go as a result of this intervention?
GINGRICH: Let me draw the distinction. I would not have intervened. I think there were a lot of other ways to affect Qaddafi. I think there are a lot of other allies in the region we could have worked with. I would not have used American and European forces.
Anyone want to try and reconcile these two interviews? It’s not just the flip-flop on intervention — the flip-flip on whether humanitarian needs make the intervention justified or not is breathtaking. Either that’s a standard or it isn’t.
[CIM Comment: This is the kind of story that could only come from the Onion, right? Sadly, that is not the case. As Americans wonder what is Congress doing day after day, now we know. Congress scores 0, the big goose egg (Congress = fail) regarding the welfare and immediate concerns of US citizens. Incapable to tackle issues such as unemployment, ever increasing national debt, a steadily rising debt ceiling, protecting or boarders, auditing the Federal Reserve (for real), bring out troops home, correcting monetary policy, restoring the adherence to the Constitution, abolishing infringements on our rights and ending the continual funding of illegal, immoral and unconstitutional wars and empire building they redefine the definition of a vegetable.
To quote the story below, "anything containing two tablespoons of tomato sauce can be labelled a vegetable", which technically classifies the school children as a vegetable after eating the pizza, lol. Based on the track record and accomplishments of this Congress, I feel we have representation by a life-form not much elevated from that of a vegetable. That being said, Dr. Ron Paul and a handful, a very small handful of others are exempt from that analogy. I guess when the subject is something they can closely relate to Congress can work together, across the aisle, to get something completed and on the books. Perhaps they will be qualified to work together on unemployment after 2012 when they find that they now have that subject in common. You really think these individuals, offering up these kind of results from their efforts, deserve a lifetime retirement and pension package after a few short years in office? To be fair now that we know what they are focusing on while in office, let's save the hundreds of millions of dollars once they are voted out and give them free pizza for life. Rewards should be based on merit and accomplishments. So who is with me to help introduce legislation to replace the current pension package with a frozen pizza pension?
BTW, as Ron Paul has opted out of the Congressional retirement benefits and all he has done in efforts to right the wrongs I suggest a special statesman status, free hot delivered pizza for life. Also, Dr. Paul should be allowed to choose the pizzeria of his choice, as a Godfather pizza may cause extreme nausea and discomfort Just saying what is right.]
PIZZA CAN BE classed as a vegetable – at least according to a decision made by the US Congress. Who knew?
American lawmakers have ruled that the amount of tomato paste in pizza sauce means that pizzas can be counted as a vegetable.
The bizarre move, which was decided in a vote on the annual spending bill for the Department of Agriculture, happened for purely political reasons.
The crucial bill had oversight over subsidised school meals, and the department was seeking to restrict pizza, chips and starchy vegetables from the menu for school children in a bid to combat child obesity.
MSNBC reports that politicians had been lobbied heavily by the frozen food industry who didn’t want to see a major revenue stream cut off given how often pizza is found on the menus of school canteens in the US.
School meals subsidised by the government are mandated to include a certain amount of vegetables and the Department of Agriculture’s plan would have pushed pizza-makers at least partly out of the school lunch business.
The salt industry, potato growers, and some conservative politicians who said that the federal government shouldn’t be involved in telling children what to eat, also lobbied against the change.
After some debate, Congress voted that anything containing two tablespoons of tomato sauce can be labelled a vegetable, putting pizza into the vegetable category.
The Obama administration is fighting to make school lunches healthier in the face of a growing obesity problem across the country.
